The attraction between Brent Berkheimer and Scott Spearman peels the wallpaper, but Brent is Scott’s boss, and they’re both too professional to go beyond flirting. Their priorities realign after Scott is badly injured in an accident that costs him his hearing, and Brent realizes what is truly important… he wants Scott.
Scott pushes Brent away at first, fearing a new romance will just add to his problems, but perhaps he will find unexpected strength and solace in Brent’s support as he struggles to communicate with the world in a new way.
Just as they decide the chance of a happy future together is worth the risk, Scott and Brent discover darker challenges in their way—including evidence that the “accident” Scott suffered may not have been so accidental.

Heart Unheard is Book 2 in Andrew Grey's Hearts Entwined series. I would definitely recommend you start at the beginning with this series. This book does not really have an introduction of characters, but gets right to it, and if you haven't read the first one, I don't think you're going to enjoy that as much. We met Brent in the first book, and learned about the mutual crush he and Scott had on each other. And, at first, Brent isn't willing to act on that crush. There are various reasons, he's his boss, he's older than Scott, and Brent's often repeated claims that he's a coward. When Scott is seriously injured in an accident, Brent realizes that it's time to step up to the plate. Scott is injured in a car wreck and his life changes when he loses his hearing.

I liked Brent and Scott, and was happy to see Trevor and James' from book 1 be prominent characters in this story. Throughout this story, you expect Scott's story to be heartbreaking, and it was, but I was taken by the heartbreaking incident from Brent's childhood that has weighed on him all these years. He constantly called himself a coward and I just didn't understand why he thought so, until he finally shared his story. And I felt so bad for the teenage Brent that's lived with that and the pressure he's put on himself. Scott was a happy go lucky character, and even though he had his struggles with acceptance, his personality and outlook in life helped him. I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to lose my hearing as an adult, and I thought the author did a great job with how he portrayed this. Before the accident, Scott was a very happy guy, who always had a smile. Though we saw cracks in Scott's happiness, he was able to overcome his new challenges.

With the subject matter and outcome, this book could have been over the top angsty but it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, it was sad, and some parts were horrifying, but it didn't weigh me down into a sobbing mess. I was completely taken by surprise when everything was revealed regarding Scott's accident. I absolutely did not expect that outcome and was equal parts shocked and horrified.

This was a well-written story that engaged your emotions and heart. The characters are engaging and full of life and it was easy to fall into this story. I was looking forward to Brent and Scott's story since I read the first book and it didn't disappoint! This is a series you must read! And it's an Andrew Grey book so you know it's full of heart, emotions, love, family, and friends.

Rating: 4.5 stars!
