Not to mention the teasing from the other kids every January. The only bright spot of the holidays was when Asher Holden visited them and they all played together without any toys.

Asher is his brother's best friend and they'd all grown up in the same neighborhood. He's had a crush on the other man since puberty, but he's never had the guts to say or do anything about it. Now, Asher is the owner and CEO of Holden Marketing, the company Beckett works for, and a relationship between them will never happen. Not only have they been friends for too many years, but there is a strict company policy against inter-office dating. He couldn’t imagine what they’d say if their CEO dated the creative manager’s P.A.

As more presents start to arrive, Beckett struggles to figure out who could be sending them, or what to do with them.

Lucas just wanted to be a normal human being, but normal is highly over-rated.

Lucas Speck had been just some guy who worked at an office supply store and house-sat for his snowbird parents. He was nobody special. Or that’s what he thought before the headaches start and weird things start to happen to him. When people start chasing him his whole life gets turned upside down.

Bennett Somerset is a dragon shifter, who likes his quiet life in his quiet town. He isn’t looking for complications. He already has a family that defines the words, weird and crazy, to perfection. Good thing they live in a small town where nothing ever happens. That is until he smells the most delicious thing in the world and realizes it’s his mate. His little witch of a mate just made things way more complicated.

Dragon’s & Mistletoe

On a shopping trip to the mall with his brother-in-law, Lucas makes a bet he’s not one hundred percent sure he can win.

Christmas was Lucas’ favorite holiday and this year would be the best ever. Gone was his boring, less than stellar life. Now he had his dragon shifter mate and a family that actually liked to spend time with him. What more could he ask for?

Well, he wanted his mate to wear one of the ugliest Christmas Sweaters in the known universe. He had a hundred dollars riding on it. His mate could be as stubborn as a…well, a dragon, at times. He just might lose this bet, after all.

EXCERPT

Bennett came closer and sniffed the air. He jumped down next to Forrest and sniffed his hair and clothing. “You smell good.” Bennett’s cock got hard and he backed up, away from Forrest. “Why do you smell like that? Who have you been around?”
“New renter is all. It’s why I’m here actually.” His brother bounced around on the balls of his feet.
Bennett frowned and dismissed the wonderful smell. It was easy to do, especially when he moved away from Forrest. “Whatever it is, I said no.”
“But he needs a job and you need help. It looks like rag city threw up around here.”
That smell drifted to him again, but this time it hadn’t come second hand off Forrest. He turned and saw the most beautiful man Bennett had ever seen. Bennett’s cock hardened in his coverall and his eye changed. His dragon was pacing, wanting closer to their mate. Bennett stalked around Forrest, taking in deep breaths as he drew closer.
The cute little man took a step away from him then and his eyes widened. “Forrest,” the man said his brother’s name in a panic, which pissed Bennett’s dragon off.
Bennett growled out a warning to his brother to stay away from his mate.
“What is he? Oh, God, get him away from me before I freak the fuck out and lose my shit.” The man held a hand up in an attempt to stop him. “Seriously, dude. I don’t know what your problem is but I don’t always have control when I’m scared. Kinda like now. I don’t want to hurt you. I’m sure you’re a perfectly nice guy who just so happens to be looking at me like I’m a cheeseburger.”

MARI'S REVIEW

***Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review.***

Lucas has been having awful, incapacitating headaches for a while that force him to remain secluded at his parents' home while they are away. Never mind that very strange things seem to happen before the headaches end. It isn't until his friend Shawn invites him to go out and they're pursued by vampires that want to kidnap Lucas that he starts getting a clue of why those things have been happening to him.

After a very narrow escape, he ends up at Saint Lakes where he meets Bennett, who turns out to be a dragon shifter and his mate. Lucas doesn't really know anything about shifters or vampires or being a witch, as it turns out he's the only male witch that exists and that's the reason they are trying to kidnap him. And while Bennett and his family are willing to protect him, will they be enough to stop a very determined vampire?

The story itself was entertaining, it involves vampires, witches and different kinds of shifters all interacting together, which was a fairly original idea. I liked Bennett and Lucas and they had good chemistry. Having multiple POVs was a bit off-putting at times, but it gave me a different perspective to what was happening with the villain as well as with the main characters. Another thing that I didn't particularly cared about, and that might be because I'm very nitpicky, is the editing, there were lots of misplaced commas, and frankly that was very distracting as I tried to discern the meaning of some sentences and it broke the flow of the reading. I'm aware this is an ARC, and this might be a before final edits copy, so I hope the problem was resolved before publishing. Other than that, this was a good, interesting read.

Rating: 3.75 Stars (Rounded up to 4).

Early ARC Review: ~ MM ~ A Hard Day's Night by Mia Kerick

A HARD DAY'S NIGHT
Mia Kerick

High school senior Kalin (Lennon) Macready knows several facts for certain: John Lennon is his hero. Beaumont Finley Danforth II (Fin) is his best friend. And—this is the complicated one—he feels more for Fin than mere friendship.

For weeks, Lennon pesters Fin, who like Lennon admits to questioning his sexual orientation, for a commitment to spend twenty-four hours together exploring “the gay side of life.” Fin reluctantly agrees. Each boy will seek to answer the daunting question, Am I gay? Lennon pre-plans the day, filling the hours with what he assumes “gay life” is all about: shopping for fashionable clothing, indulging in lavish dessert crepes, boogying to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”, and yes, listening to show tunes.

However, Lennon quickly realizes that in creating his plan he has succumbed to the most common and distorted of gay stereotypes. Can he be gay and not fit them? And more importantly, is it possible that spending one very hard day and night together will help Fin accept that he’s gay, too? If so, maybe Lennon has a shot at winning the heart of the boy of his dreams.

“A Hard Day’s Night” is an amusing young adult contemporary romance about two boys who seek to discover if they must fulfill stereotypes to be together.

In the end, maybe all you need is love.

Tracy's Review

 Rating: 4 Stars

*copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by author/publisher via Creative Minds in exchange for an honest review*

Kalin, better known as Lennon since he fell in love with John Lennon in middle school, plans "gay exploration day", so he and his BFF, Beaumont, better known as Fin can spend the day exploring the gay side of life. Lennon and Fin spend the day doing all the "stereotypical" things gay men are known for doing. Dancing and pierced ears anyone?

Lennon already knows he's gay, and in love with Fin. He plans this day, a 24 hour period, to see if Fin is gay and if he has the same feelings for Lennon. What will this experience show these two HS seniors?

This was a cute, funny and sweet story, with a couple of moments of heartbreak. The characters were very well developed. They were both likable and I just had to root for them to find love. The book flowed well and held my attention. The author had me singing along with John, Paul, George and Ringo. I loved the secondary character of Lennon's mom, Ruthie.

This was a very enjoyable read!

Excerpt:

I hate parties.
I hovered by the door leading into the living room. It was crowded with people drunk off their arses. They looked, quite frankly, ridiculous the way they tried to flirt and hook up with each other. It was disgusting. No one had better come over to me with their cheesy pick-up lines.
I wanted to leave. But the front door was on the opposite side of the living room. To get there I had to cross said room full of people who would notice me. Not that anyone had spoken to me yet since I arrived, but I had been invited. Probably because I’d been within earshot when my classmates had been talking about it, but I had been asked nonetheless.
Why did I say yes?
That was the million dollar question. I didn’t like parties, I didn’t like being sociable. I wasn’t good at it. Drawing attention to myself… I couldn’t do it.
People headed for the kitchen, almost shouting at each other to be heard over the music and everyone else.
I drew back and turned to find somewhere to hide.
My gaze fell on a door that had a simple WC sign on it. Really? What was the point of that in their own house? That was the kind of sign for public toilets. Maybe that was the point.
Still, it was a room. A door with a lock.
I could hide in there until the party calmed down and I dared to venture into that living room. I did this for you, Mum. I opened the door and found the room empty. I breathed a sigh in relief. You wanted me to be sociable and here I am. Never again. Never ever. This was the last time I tried. Being cooped up in my room was heaven compared to this.
I closed the door after me. A bottle clinked against the wood. I looked down at my other hand and the beer bottle clutched in it. I’d forgot about it in my panic facing the living room. Someone had pressed it into my hand when I’d arrived.
I crossed the small room to lean against the smooth wall, slowly sinking down to sit on the floor.
I should go home and enjoy my own company. Get on the laptop and get online. Play a game, do coursework, anything else but sitting here hiding. I didn’t even have my sketchbook with me, so I couldn’t draw. I could do that at home though.
I sat the bottle of beer on the floor next to me. I eyed it. I had drunk from it and it had tasted like piss. Not that I knew what that tasted like, but it was what I imagined it would taste like. I hadn’t ever drunk alcohol—never felt the need to. Not having any mates or being sociable meant I’d never experienced any peer pressure.
Tonight was, apparently, a night for new adventures though. I took another sip of the vile thing and almost choked as a result. I forced it down on sheer willpower. Perhaps tonight was the night I would experience being drunk. It wouldn’t take long if I got the beer down. Not being used to alcohol, I wouldn’t need much to feel the effects. Or so the internet told me. Why anyone liked beer, or would drink it to savour the taste, was beyond me.
I drank some more. Torturing myself was what I was doing. I should leave, but then I’d have to go through the living room where everyone was gathered. I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t risk having all their attention on me—it would definitely leave me in a state of panic.
Slam!

Mari's Review:

***ARC provided by Pride Promotions in exchange for a fair and honest review. ***

This was a short book, but it was pretty good!

Adrian has never had much interest in sex, mostly because of his anxiety. He prefers being alone and not interacting much with anyone, being invisible is very good in his book.

Oliver is just the opposite, he's always making waves, be it in class or out with his friends. But things are not always what they seem to be as Adrian will discover.

After meeting at a party and having sort of drunken, unprotected sex, Adrian and Oliver start hanging out while waiting for the results of the HIV and STD tests they took. At first Adrian doesn't like Oliver all that much, but that changes slowly as they start knowing more of the other, and Adrian realizes Oliver is loud and brash to protect himself, just as Adrian is silent and invisible for the same reason. They start a relationship where they definitely start liking each other.

It was a sweet, fast read, not a HEA, but a HFN that left me with a smile in my face.
