Book synopsis:

Everything’s bigger in Alaska, especially the HEAs. Annabeth Albert kicks off the brand-new Frozen Hearts series with Arctic Sun, an opposites-attract romance between a rugged outdoorsman and a smoking hot former male model.

He’s built a quiet life for himself in Alaska. But it doesn’t stand a chance against the unrelenting pull of a man who’s everything he shouldn’t want.

Ex-military mountain man Griffin Barrett likes his solitude. It keeps him from falling back into old habits. Bad habits. He’s fought too hard for his sobriety to lose control now. However, his gig as a wildlife guide presents a new kind of temptation in superhot supermodel River Vale. Nothing the Alaskan wilderness has to offer has ever called to Griffin so badly. And that can only lead to trouble…

River has his own methods for coping. Chasing adventure means always moving forward. Nobody’s ever made him want to stand still—until Griffin. The rugged bush pilot is the very best kind of distraction, but the emotions he stirs up in River feel anything but casual, and he’s in no position to stay put.

With temptation lurking in close quarters, keeping even a shred of distance is a challenge neither’s willing to meet. And the closer Griffin gets to River, the easier it is to ignore every last reason he should run.

One-click with confidence. This title is part of the Carina Press Romance Promise: all the romance you’re looking for with an HEA/HFN. It’s a promise!

Publisher’s Note: Arctic Sun deals with topics some readers may find difficult, including sobriety and eating disorders.

“The world is a cruel place…”

No one believes that more than I do. My name is Declan Forester, and I am a Zedian. Part of a different species born with miraculous gifts from the gods, only the humans don’t see it that way. They see us as something to be tamed.

After being captured by the humans and stripped of my abilities, I have little left. With my life in shambles, my thoughts are haunted by my human tormenter. Dr. Adam Davenport. A human male that is everything nightmares are made of.

Now, his unwilling captive in a government-run facility, I am forced to obey his every demand, or be punished. Caught up in a web of lies about gods, the push to help a hot redhead, my high running desires and, oh yeah, the pending apocalypse, I find myself falling apart. And Adam may be the only one to save me…if I comply.

Mathieu Beresford was so close to seeing his dream come true.

The thirty-eight-year-old captain of the Buffalo Surge had led his team to the final round of the playoffs with his aggressive defensive play and leadership. During the first game of the championship series, he was taken down, and his leg snapped upon impact with the boards. From his hospital bed, Mathieu watched his team go on to win it all.

Adrift in anger, resentment, and the new direction of his life, he returns to his mansion along the St. Lawrence River. Alone and sulking, Mathieu is not prepared for Indigo Neu to enter his life. The genderflux twenty-year-old botany major signs on to play nursemaid, confidant, and groundskeeper over the summer and slowly leads Mathieu out of his confusion—one tender smile and touch at a time.

The deeper Mathieu falls, the more he wonders if being lost might not be so bad after all.

Sander March is one season away from the pros, or so everyone tells him.

If only Sander had as much faith in his ability as the Cougar coaching staff does. Outwardly, he’s cocksure, borderline bitter, and slightly sarcastic. All that strut and sass hides a wounded soul though. Working to hide a brutal past filled with humiliation, abuse, and a family member who still haunts him, Sander has never found the kind of comfort and understanding he so desperately needs. Until he meets Mateo Castillo, a minor league baseball player for the nearby Elmira Egrets. Mateo and Sander click instantly, and a budding friendship develops between the two athletes.

Mateo then introduces Sander to his boyfriend, Noah Coombs, an aspiring manga comic creator. The three men find themselves bonding strongly, and that slowly gives way to sexual attraction. Eventually, Mateo and Noah invite Sander into their relationship. The path to happiness isn’t going to be easy for Sander as he faces criticism from his friends, teammates, and the press for his choices. The brash young star can handle all that, it’s when his abuser shows up in Cayuga that Sander fears not only for his own safety, but for the lives of the two men he has grown to love. Will Sander’s past tear him away from Mateo and Noah, or will he be able to leave the darkness behind?

Warning – This story has disturbing subject matter.

Review & Blog Tour: Made In Portugal by Ana Newfolk (Review, Guest Post + Giveaway)

What’s next for Ana Newfolk

I’ve been asked a few times what is next for me, and what’s going on with Max and Isaac.

Last year in August I was in the middle of writing Made In Portugal and getting a bit stuck and unsure of what I was doing (doesn’t that happen to all of us?).

A British author was putting together an Advent Calendar event where authors, new and published shared a free short story each day in December.

At the time I didn’t have any idea when Made In Portugal was going to release so I decided to pause it to write a short story for the Advent Calendar. It was meant to be anything from 500 to 5000 words.

By then I already knew Max, since he appeared right at the beginning of Made In Portugal so I decided to give him a love interest for the short story. Very quickly it span out of control, and 17000 words later I had Max and Isaac spending a very lovely, very Christmassy and very hot two days together.

I didn’t want their story to end there because I felt there was more to them so their time together was a kind of happy for now, with a promise of more.

You can read Made In New York - A Christmas Short Story on Amazon. It is now on Kindle Unlimited too.

Both stories are standalones and only the characters crossover but for those who like to read things in a timeline then the Christmas story happens first (last Christmas), and Made In Portugal happens this summer.

I am planning on publishing Made In New York at some point at the beginning of 2019.

Review & Blog Tour: On The Ice by Amy Aislin (Review, Guest Post and Giveaway)

Thanks for joining me today on the fourth stop of my blog tour for my newest m/m romance novel, On the Ice, and thank you to Bayou Book Junkie for having me!

I’m a pantser, not a plotter, so when it came time to write On the Ice, I did so without an outline. I had a basic idea of what was going to happen—Alex was demisexual from the beginning, for example, and Mitch was always going to be the smart-mouthed college kid who falls hard for Alex. But the characters and story developed as I went.

When I got the feedback from my editor, she had some changes she wanted to see to make the book stronger. Some were easy, like “Alex sounds a bit too much like Mitch here.” And some were a little more complex and involved threading something new into the entire story. So I created a plot board so I could see the overall picture and try to figure out what needed to change and where and how that would affect continuity later in the story. Check it out below.

The middle section of this presentation board is the actual plot board, divided into chapters. The yellow stickies are Mitch’s point of view, the blue Alex’s, and the purple are text exchanges between them. After I got the feedback from my editor, the board was covered in the smaller pink stickies you see. Those summarized changes needed in a particular scene.

On the left, the small, yellow stickies are headings. The blue stickies underneath them have a list of Alex’s and Mitch’s teammates and coaches. The green stickies are character descriptions. Mostly physical descriptions with some personalities thrown in.

And on the right, that random small, blue sticky? That’s just how I kept track of what page I ended my editing session on. I’d write it on there before shutting down for the day.

I hope you enjoyed this insight into my writing strategy for On the Ice. Pick up the book at Amazon, iBooks, Kobo, or B&N. Follow me on the rest of my blog tour.

Bennett Cole had lived next door to Mitchell “Mac” Campbell, III for eighteen years of his life, in the small town of White Acre. They’d never gotten along, never seen eye to eye, and never understood one another…not that they’d ever cared to try.

But when Bennett’s so-called buddies ditched him at a party in the woods where he was assaulted and left for dead, Bennett pulled through. The emotional scars rendered him too terrified to go back to school and face his “friends” or his attackers. With little choice, his family packed up and left town.
Ten years later—at the request of his mother—Bennett returned to the place he’d grown up and the home he’d once felt safe, to oversee the repairs before his childhood house was sold. The contractor? None other than Mac, the once annoying boy next door, who still lives there in the home his parents gifted him.

Being in such close proximity—working together every day, to repair the Coles’ family home—Bennett and Mac’s contentious relationship goes from bad to worse as their personalities continue to clash. But their heated exchanges may not be as antagonistic as they seem. And when new information is revealed, can the men begin to see each other in a different light?
