Hello book readers,

I would like to thank Bayou Book Junkie for having me here today so I can promote my new release- Fault Lines. It is not your typical LGBT romance book. It is a story about community and people coming together to overcome whatever obstacle they are facing. Romance- yes. Drama- yes! Comedy- oh yes.

The story takes place in sunny Los Angeles, at the edge of the Hollywood Hills. The multiple plot lines all focus on a group of people who live together in a small townhome complex on Descante Drive. It is a close community and newcomer Ursula Moolay is the newest denizen to their small family. We have gay couple Harrison and Cole, boyfriends who are both involved in the entertainment industry; Amber and Tommy, a young married couple hiding secrets from each other that could ruin their lives; Margaret and Bea, a lesbian couple trying to find their way through life; Isabelle and Richard, a senior couple dealing with illness; and finally Ursula, a drag performer dealing with her identity.

There is murder, drug dealers, prostitution and kidnapping that they must somehow get through to ever have the happy ending they yearn for. Red carpet meltdowns, celebrity sex tapes, Feminist fight clubs, and morning sickness keeps the story rolling towards its explosive finale. When you live in California, earthquakes are a way of life, but sometimes the fault lines open and threaten to swallow you within.

Ursula is one of my favorite characters that I have ever written. She is a strong, educated, and powerful woman of color coming to terms with her identity. I first introduced her as a supporting character in The Trouble with Off-Campus Housing and have wanted to explore her in her own series for a while.

I am a HUGE fan of The Tales of the City book series and this is my homage to the Armistaud Maupin classics. A series of interweaving stories that connect and interweave, telling the tale of a group of fabulous and honest characters doing their best to survive and be happy in the real world. I know these people and so do you. I have been each of these characters at different points in my life and I am excited to finally release them into the world.

Hello Bayou Book Junkie readers! I am excited about my new novel The Year of the Cock finally getting released today. It is a story that has been playing in my head for quite some time. Before I began writing books, I was a playwright and a musical theatre actor. The beginnings of this novel began when I was 21 years old and hopelessly miscast in a musical at my college.

I don’t know how many of you out there in the cyber world are musical theatre fans but I am obsessed and always have been. Wouldn’t life be beautiful if we all sang our feelings with perfect pitch and rhythm! I sometimes forget that it isn’t and belt it out at inopportune times… like grocery shopping! HA! My husband finds it endearing at least.

Anyway, I digress, so I was cast in the lead of a musical called Company by Stephen Sondheim. It is an amazing show about a straight man named Bobby who surrounds himself with married couples and cannot commit to a real relationship himself. I was 21 and naïve. I had never had my heart broken or even truly understood what it meant to fall in love with someone, so I did not grasp the fear and loneliness of the character. I thought it was a comedy. I was horrible. HA!

I did get a chance at redemption though. I got to play the part again when I was 30. This time I understood what the character was going through, the pathos and insecurities that made him tic and made him human. I think I was pretty good… At least that is what I tell myself!
