The perfect job or the perfect man. Surely Aiden and Noah can have both, right?

Aiden Turner's world flipped upside down when his vengeful ex-boyfriend destroyed a major project, costing his uncle’s architectural firm an important client. Feeling guilty, Aiden has since sworn off all romantic involvement with anyone he works with.
Noah Walker is getting ready to interview for his dream role when he catches Aiden’s eye on the London Tube. They strike up a conversation, and even though the attraction sizzles between them, Noah must decline the offer of a morning coffee. The interview is crucial, and he needs to focus on getting the job, not getting a date.
When Aiden discovers the enigmatic man on the train is the same man he is interviewing, he is torn. But he knows Noah is the right man for the job, and he attempts to put some professional distance between them. However, it's not long before Noah makes his way under Aiden’s skin.
Neither man can afford to risk their employment, but keeping their relationship a secret takes its toll. When things get ugly, they need to decide what’s more important—or if the job is worth the sacrifice.

Working at the family’s run-down Manchester fish and chip shop, Adam is confronted by a new, surly face in town and instantly dislikes the icy newcomer. So what if he pushes all of Adam’s hot buttons?

When the ice melts and things heat up between Marcus and Adam, Adam thinks all his dreams have come true. With Marcus’s help, new customers arrive and the chip shop starts to flourish, easing Adam’s mind. But when Adam puts all his trust in Marcus on the busiest night the shop has seen in years, thing go awry and it leaves Adam with more questions than answers.

Title: Indigo Road

Author: R.J. Jones

Genre: New Adult, Gay Romance, Contemporary
Length: Novel
Cover artist: Meredith Russell

Synopsis

Two best friends take a year off to find themselves… and end up finding each other.
Joshua Simpson has just finished four years at Purdue University, but that’s not why he’s buzzing with excitement. Once they’ve said goodbye to their families, Josh and his best friend Alex are taking off to discover America in an old but reliable VW van, planning on not seeing snow for an entire year.
Josh has always considered himself straight—except for that one time in college—so when he and Alex are living in such close proximity on the road, he’s unsure what these new feelings mean. Is it because they’re spending 24/7 together, or is it something deeper? And does it really matter since Josh has only ever seen Alex with women?
While in Oregon, Josh meets Johnno, a sexy but confusing Aussie surfer. While having an impromptu surfing lesson, Johnno helps Josh realize who he is and what he wants—but Alex’s reaction leaves Josh confused.
From a Montana ranch to the bright lights and dangerous streets of Los Angeles to a dark and lonely deserted highway in Alabama, join Josh and Alex as they drive around the US, discovering not only who they are, but who they can be together.

“G’day, I don’t normally see anyone here at this time. I’m Johnno.” He stood in front of me, hand extended while the board was tucked under his other arm.
His arms and chest were covered with light blond hair that I hadn’t been able to see before. His light blue gaze held mine and I almost forgot my manners.
I stood and shook his hand. “Josh. It’s nice to meet you,” I replied, stuttering a little.
Johnno looked me up and down before placing his board in the sand, sitting on it, and encouraging me to sit with him.
“You surf?” he asked, watching the waves crash against the shore. “It’s mad this morning, got wiped out heaps.” His accent confused me; clearly he was not a local.
“No, I don’t. Looks great, though.” I had no idea what to say, and I was sure everything I did say was going to be lame.
Johnno turned to me, grinning. “You live here and don’t surf? What’s up with that?”
“Ah, no. We just parked here for the night before heading to California.”
“You’re traveling? That’s so cool. Where’re you from?”
“Indiana. Been on the road since early June.”
“Where’s that?”
“Indiana? It’s east, borders Illinois.”
“Any surf out that way?”
“None.”
“Bugger.”
“Where are you from?” I asked him, keen to keep the conversation going.
“Straya.”
“Where?”
“Australia,” he said more slowly. “I’m on a surfing holiday. Needed a break from the job, you know?”
“The job?” It sounded like the mafia, and I instantly wished I hadn’t asked in case there was an Australian branch I hadn’t heard of.
“I’m a sparky by trade, but I’d rather surf, you know?”
He wasn’t a redhead and I had no idea what he was talking about, but my curiosity got the better of me again and I asked him.
“I’m an electrician. Wiring houses and stuff.”
“Oh, I get it.”
“You ’mericans are a weird bunch.” He laughed and shook his head before nudging my thigh with his.
He’s the one who implied he’s a redheaded hitman, and he thinks we’re weird?

After graduating college Josh and Alex head off on a year long road trip across the country together. They pile into their (new to them), Indigo colored VW van and head west. The best friends begin their journey at home in Fort Wayne, Indiana and head for California. Along the way Josh starts to have romantic feelings for Alex. Will Josh and Alex be brave enough to make the move from friends to lovers?

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book!! I adored Josh and Alex. They were both sweet, caring and fun loving. Their relationship felt natural and I loved the back and forth banter between them. Their story was amazing and as a couple they just fit together perfectly. The chemistry was out of this world and the sex was passionate and hot, yet sweet and loving.

I loved traveling the country with them on their adventure. The story flowed well and I was never bored. This book held me captivated from the moment I opened it. I. Couldn't. Put. It. Down!!!

I know 2015 is almost over, but I can honestly say this has been one of my favorites, and it will definitely be a re-read for me down the road!!

Highly recommended!!

About the author

R.J. Jones started as a reader and eventually made the progression to reviewing. It wasn’t until two men popped into her thoughts, insisting on telling her their story that she started to write.
It started with one scene. A hot and dirty one in the shower…
R.J.’s initial thought was if she could write their scene then they’d shut up and allow her to concentrate on other aspects of her day. Not so. That shower scene ended up being 3000 words long and three hours of work.  And still, they didn’t shut up.  They told her their entire story and she didn’t sleep for days. Sometimes she couldn’t keep up with what they were telling her and she had to keep a notebook by her bed.
Whilst she was writing their story a side character decided he needed his story told too. Then other characters followed suit.
You see the problem? If she ever wants to sleep again then she needs to write.
R.J. is a wife and a mother to two boys. She is surrounded by males. Even her dog is a boy.

Excerpt:

THE NEXT morning he was there again, and his lips quirked in a small smile when he saw me. I looked at all the people milling around the elevator, then headed for the stairs. I couldn’t stop myself from looking over my shoulder. Mr. Gorgeous was staring at me, his brow furrowed and his smile gone. At least I could breathe in the stairwell. I took the stairs for the rest of the week, successfully eluding another encounter with Mr. Way-out-of-my-league.
Friday morning came, and I looked toward the elevator, expecting to see him waiting with the hordes, but he wasn’t there. I didn’t always see him, and I presumed he traveled for work or maybe had breakfast meetings on the days I didn’t see him. Heading for the stairs, I pushed the door open as I tried to fit my Encore magazine into my messenger bag.
“Why are you ignoring me?”
My heart felt like it had flown out of my chest. I grabbed the railing to steady myself with one hand; the other clutching at my chest like it was possible to stop my heart from flying away.
“Jesus, holy... Are you trying to kill me? I’m sure it’d be less painful to throw me down the stairs.”
“Sorry, but you’ve been avoiding me all week. Short of stalking you on your way home I thought this was a better, non-psychotic way of getting you to talk to me.”
“And scaring someone to death in an empty stairwell is less psychotic?”

So I started reading this and quite a ways in I kept thinking, this sounds so familiar. I've read this story before. I went back and checked and, no I didn't have a review for this. As I was about to ask my co-blogger if I was crazy, it hit me. I read this as part of the anthology, Encore. I reread it again, but  my original review is below.

Jason is an average accountant. He runs into Mr. Wonderful every morning in the elevator on his way to work.

Paul asks Jason out on a date, but Jason has a hard time believing that Paul would really want to be with him, the average accountant.

This was a sweet, funny and spicy read. I have one thing to say, I want to go to a Grease Dance Party! Sounds like a fabulous time!

This was fun and entertaining and even though it was a short story, I didn't feel cheated. I felt satisfied when I was done.

This was a good follow-up to Jason and Paul's story. This story tells some of what has happened to them since we last saw them and leads up to their wedding. I loved that everything didn't come up roses for them. They had to fight for their relationship. They faced trials and tribulations, but they make it through with love.

This was a sweet ending to their story that I really enjoyed!

Grayson Black has never forgiven himself for not saving his identical twin brother, Jet, from a savage beating at their father’s hands ten years ago. Jet’s near-death never would have happened if Gray hadn’t been so focused on his boyfriend at the time. He has sworn to take care of his brother ever since. Gray can’t afford a distraction from his self-imposed mission, the type of distraction presented by the gorgeous blond showing up at their gigs.
Kris Larson is a firefighter with the San Francisco Fire Department. Since splitting from his girlfriend, his favorite way to spend nights off is watching the Black Brothers play in the bars of the Bay Area, especially the guitarist. But it’s not until the brothers are left homeless after a fire at their apartment building that Kris has the opportunity to know the real person behind the brooding façade.
Gray fights his attraction to Kris, but with a meddlesome twin who just wants him to be happy, it’s a losing battle. Before Gray and Kris can have a lasting relationship, though, Gray must learn to forgive himself, let go of the past, and lay more than one demon to rest.

Excerpt:

BLONDIE OPENED his front door and headed straight for what I assumed was his bedroom. I took in his apartment from where I stood near the front door. It looked like he lived with his grandmother.
Floral curtains hung in the window, and the mantel was loaded with lots of framed pictures. Piles of pink pillows loaded the floral-print couch, and doilies covered the back and arms. It appeared very grandmotherly. The furniture was old and worn, yet looked comfortable. Some might say well-loved. I’d say old.
Turning to Jet, I saw his expression held the same confusion as mine.
What have we stumbled into?
I have no fucking idea.
I didn’t need words to communicate with my twin. We knew what the other was thinking just by looking.
Our silent conversation was interrupted when Blondie—Kris—returned with some clothes.
“Here, I grabbed what I thought would best fit you two.”
Was this guy for real? He didn’t know us from Adam and he was giving us the full use of his apartment and his closet?
I was instantly distrustful and skeptical. Surely people like him didn’t exist in real life. Add that to the creepy grandma apartment, and we were going wake up with our throats slit.
“Thanks, Kris, that’s generous of you,” said my way-too-trusting brother as he took the bundle from the hot blond psycho. “We’ll go out after breakfast and buy some clothes to get us through the next few days. That way you can get some sleep. We’ll get some groceries as well if that’s okay. We don’t want to mooch off you too much.” Why my brother was going along with this was anyone’s guess.
I rolled my eyes and got an elbow jabbed into my ribs.
Gray and I really appreciate this so while we’re here, we’ll cook for you. Just let us know if there’s anything you don’t like or can’t eat.”
“Ah, man, that’s nice, thanks. I don’t know what’s left in the fridge. I’m not around much when I’m on shift, but I’d never say no to a meal.” He patted his hard, flat stomach, and I couldn’t take my gaze away from his hand as it lingered near his belt.
“I’ll give you some money for the groceries, though. I eat a lot, and you guys are already put out.”
Blondie reached behind and pulled his wallet from his back pocket, taking some bills out. He thrust them into Jet’s hand, and as my brother started to protest, Blondie held his hand up.
“You’ll need it for the groceries. Now go take a shower, both of you…” Turning his attention to me, he gave me a smile that made my blood hum. “Second door on the left, spare towels are on the shelf. I’ll get breakfast started.”
And with that parting comment, he padded into the kitchen, leaving Jet and me staring at each other. Jet grinned. “I’m in the shower first, little brother.”

Gray and Jet Black are identical twins, that play music at clubs in their spare time. They are both full time teachers. Kris has been following them to different gigs, but has never really met them. When Kris, a firefighter responds to a fire at their apartment building, that leaves the twins homeless, he makes the impulsive decision to offer them his spare room. He is attracted to Gray, and would like to get to know him, but Gray is closed off, and even though the attraction is mutual, he is rude and mean to Kris, to push him away.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I really disliked Gray for a good portion of the book, and I felt that Kris was too much of a pushover. He was way too understanding of Gray's actions and I felt he forgave too quickly.

I liked the relationship between the twins, but I found it was TOO much. I have 21 year old twin daughters and they might love each other dearly, but even they wouldn't hug and kiss as much as Gray and Jet did. I know it was nothing sexual, but at times their relationship was too mushy.

The story at times was uninteresting and kind of boring. This was a good storyline, but it needed some more excitement. But I have to say, even though I was kind of bored at times and craved something more, I couldn't put it down. I had to see what was going to happen next, or if anything was going to happen.

A major problem with this book is at times, was things were told more than once. If you have explained to me the reader, through inner dialogue what happened, when that person tells the story to another character(s), don't rewrite the whole thing. Sum it up. I felt done stories were repeated, and I just wanted to skim ahead.

I thought the ending was nice, but it felt a bit rushed. I would have liked to have more closure in the end. The story was drawn out, and then suddenly it was over.

I would love to see Jet's book, I just hope the relationship between the twins isn't as mushy in his story.

I feel like this review is all negatives, and I'm sorry. I did enjoy the story, I just wish it had been more exciting.

About The Author:
RJ started as a reader and eventually made the progression to reviewing. It wasn't until two men popped into her thoughts, insisting on telling her their story that she started to write. It started with one scene. A hot and dirty one in the shower.
RJ's initial thought was if she could write their scene then they'd shut up and allow her to concentrate on other aspects of the day. That shower scene was 3000 words long and three hours of work.  But they didn't shut up.  They told her their entire story and she didn't sleep for days.  Sometimes she couldn't keep up with what they were telling her and she had to keep a notebook by the bed.
Whilst RJ was writing their story a side character decided he needed his story told too. Then other characters followed suit.
You see the problem? If RJ ever wants to sleep again then she needs to write.
RJ is a wife and a mother to two boys. Even her dog is a boy.
She is surrounded by males.

RJ writes emotionally charged, character driven romances. Her guys will always get their HEA, but it will never be easy.
