Jax never thought he’d want another alpha to touch him, much less mate with him, but Karter’s gentle patience breaks down the walls Jax erected around his heart after the death of his first mate. As Jax’s next heat approaches, the investigation into his captivity uncovers surprising connections to several previous cases, and the danger to everyone involved increases. I think this is my favorite of this series. Not only did I really enjoy the story but I loved both MC’s and I didn’t feel that way about the other two books. I actually cared what happened to Jax and Karter from the very beginning and the more I read about them, the more I loved them and hoped for a really great HEA.

Karter Jenks was kind of a surprise to me. When we met him in the previous story, I had assumptions about him but he was very different. He’s young, only 23. He comes from a pretty conservative family but they are also a loving family. Karter wasn’t a jerk, honestly, he was quite sweet and accommodating as well as eager to change and be better. He’s hoping he’ll meet his mate, especially after Tarek and Braun and Ronin and Kell. However, he isn’t actively searching for his mate. Finding him the way he does shocks him but he immediately does what he sees as the right thing and I loved him for it.

Karter is protective, gentle, sweet and caring when it comes to Jax and Jax’s baby. He pretty much makes Jax his top priority and embraces the bond and mating. It doesn’t bother Karter that Jax is mute, older and already an omegin (his original mate died).

Jax is a great addition to this series because he gives a very different idea of an Omega and how they look, act and feel. He’s extraordinarily brave as well as strong and will do anything to make sure he and his son survive. He also has a lot more Alpha in him than Braun and Kell and personally, I loved that.

Together these guys have incredible chemistry and well, I have to say they’re pretty sexy together. I loved that in the bedroom (and outside of it) they don’t follow the stereotypical Alpha Omega roles at all times. While it was a pretty short timeframe from their first encounter 'til their mating, it didn’t feel like it was rushed, instead I liked the pacing.

Overall, I definitely recommend Heard. It’s well written and very entertaining. This is a very intriguing series and all worth reading.
