Title - Tied: A Crown & Anchor Novella
Author - Kerri Ann
Genre - M/M Romance Novella
Release Date - November 22, 2017
Governor Chris Rock is Carli Katana's boss—well, ex-boss. And now that she's run off with her man candy, Whiskey Crown, Chris finds himself in trouble. Without her keeping him out of the press, out of trouble and in check, he's in for a dick of a lifetime. I mean, a trip of a lifetime.
Arriving in New York for a Governor's something or other, he's finding himself in a predick-ament. As a prolific public figure and ex-Marine, there’s always been an expectation of who Chris is and should be; strong, dangerous, fearless, and the typical man’s man. But that’s not him. And as he finds himself longingly staring at the speaker, Tyler Marshall, Chris knows he’s in trouble. Tyler is gorgeous, and he's everything Chris looks for in a man. The real problem is that in this venue, Tyler's unattainable.
**This novella has characters from both the Crown and Anchor series and the standalone Rushed. It’s sexy hot and full of laughs. Pre-warning you about it won’t do you any good.
This book is a crossover from the Crown and Anchor series and a standalone, all by the same author, and contains a lot of characters from both. While technically you can read it as a standalone, which is what I did, bear in mind that there's a mindboggling amount of secondary characters and that you might feel lost sometimes.
Governor Chris Rock is in New York for a Governor's convention, and while he's there, he finds himself drawn to one of the speakers, Tyler Marshall. He knows he shouldn't make a move, however, he's unable to stop himself and when Tyler refuses him, Chris's actions put his career at risk.
I liked Tyler, he was out and proud and seemed nice enough. Unfortunately, I didn't like Chris all that much. He seemed too out-of-control for a governor. It's like if he didn't have his 'handler' with him, he was guaranteed to get in trouble and boy, if he didn't. He was married and even if his wife was his best friend and beard, the way he dealt with things was definitely not the best. He did get a tad better after the whole outing himself fiasco, but I truly couldn't see what Tyler (or Tyler's friends) saw in him, for that matter. Actually, Tyler was all set in not giving in to Chris, because he was married and Tyler's friends insisted so much that he should give Chris a chance that he slept with the man, despite his own misgivings. WTH?!?! With friends like those you don't need enemies!
Okay, so Tyler and Chris did have chemistry and they were explosive in bed, and perhaps if they managed to overcome all the issues they were up against, they could make a good couple. As it was, the book ends in a solid HFN.
Overall, the book was very over the top, but if you suspend your disbelief, it's enjoyable and hot. I don't like books with cheating, but because of the circumstances of Chris's marriage, it was pretty much a non-issue here. I won't say it's the best book I've read, but it isn't the worst, either. Recommendable.
