Blurb:

A second chance steamy gay romance between a hot rock star and a hotter doctor.
Zac was once Bobby, before he left his old name and his old flame to claw his way to the top of the charts. A decade later, bounced from his band, the erstwhile celebrity finds himself crawling home alone with his tail between his legs.
Reed hasn't seen Bobby for ten years after making the tough choice to quit music to study medicine. His small town needs a local doctor, and Reed has worked hard to fill that need. Sure, it's lonely for a gay man in a place this size, but he has his loyal dog Magnum by his side to keep him company.
When Magnum literally knocks over the stranger squatting in the old Mason place, Reed didn't expect to meet his Bobby from way back when.
Can former friends find the love they lost, or will the paparazzi tear them apart for good? Even with a nudge from an intelligent dog, how can a celebrity and a small-town doctor make it together?
This standalone male/male 172-page contemporary romance novel includes the frank language and steamy situations you'd expect between two athletic men in their late twenties. It comes complete with a helpful Bernese Mountain Dog, an elopement, and a Happily Ever After.  No cheating, no cliffhangers.

4 Stars!

I'm a pretty big fan of Parker Avrile, her books are perfect reading for when you're in the mood for lighter, easier, sexy reads. Tonight's Encore was no exception. This was a cute story about self discovery and second chances with just enough drama and a smidgen of angst to keep it engaging.

Zac Dillion is back home after a decade of living his dream as a professional musician. Fresh off a breakup with his band's frontman and veritable Rock Star Troy Reiver and basically kicked out of the band he helped create, Zac is feeling betrayed and angry. His intention is to lick his wounds in his hometown and work on music of his own, now that he's lost all rights to the bands songs. What he doesn't expect is to run into his first love, Reed.

Reed has come back after medical school in order to open a much needed practice in his small town. He never thought he'd run into Bobby Mason. The only guy he's ever loved. But Reed wonders what Bobby has changed since High School besides his name. One thing is the same however, Reed finds Zac irresistible.

As the two men begin to explore a friends with benefits type relationship, they begin to realize old feelings are resurfacing. They are finally able to be together and free with their relationship while the explore what it is they want. Unfortunately, though, Troy realizes he may have made a mistake kicking Zac out of the band and wants him back. Not only that, he has a great plan for them to make more money than they ever dreamed. The only hitch is they'll need to get married.

I liked both Zac and Reed and thought they had great chemistry together. It was nice to see a professional musician that was very normal and not written like a caricature of a Rock Star. Reed seemed more worldly in a way but still very down to earth.

I, of course, hated Troy, how could I not along with pretty much anyone associated with him outside of Zac. He made a believable villain though and it made me want to root harder for Zac and Reed.

Overall, I found Tonight's Encore quite entertaining and I'd definitely recommend it.
