Eighteen-year-old Harrison Haddon has grown up alone. Surrounded by wealth, nannies, and material things, all he craves is the approval of his father. Sent away to the boarding school his father and grandfather attended, it’s assumed he will follow in their footsteps from Sydney’s prestigious Ivy League school straight into medical school.
But Harrison doesn’t want to be a doctor.
He dreams of music and classical piano. His only true happiness, his escape from the world expected of him, is dismissed by his intolerant and emotionally detached parents.
Levi Aston arrives from London for a three-month student exchange program. Free-spirited and confident in who he is and what he wants to do with his life, Levi convinces Harrison not give up on his dreams.
But convincing Harrison not to give up on his family might not be so easy.

I've had this book in my TBR pile forever and after reading it, I can't for the life of me figure out why it took me so long to get to it, because I absolutely adored it!! I loved the innocence of Harrison and Levi. They are young, only 18 when the story begins and the writing and characterization felt realistic. I loved getting a front row seat to watching these young men fall in love and grow and mature together. It was so sweet to witness them discover one another's bodies and learn to please each other. They fumbled a bit at first, which made the situation feel that much more real.
The story contains angst, but it's from outside sources. These two men stick by each other throughout the story even if the relationship is a bit rocky at times. The love they shared was beautiful, innocent, pure and you could feel it coming off the pages at you. The chemistry Harrison and Levi shared was out of this world.
This book was well-written. It's sweet and a bit steamy, with lovable characters you can't help but root for. It left me feeling the warm and fuzzies and wanting so much more, in a good way!! Highly recommended!!

Really sweet and romantic, with an ending that made me believe in these guys' HEA.
This is quite a short tale that starts when the leads are about 18, and when we leave them about to embark on the rest of their lives together, they're about 22.
It's sweet and romantic and I was happy to wear my rose-tinted glasses and go along for the ride. I could say that there's less angst than expected in this, but that would be from the perspective of someone who's the age of these guys' parents, and I suppose that standing up for your beliefs and having someone to have your back at that young age, IS angsty. Luckily, everyone was intelligent and reasonable and things ended well, and whilst there was a further incident, it also had the right level of angst for someone aged 18.
I don't think there will be more tales with this couple, which is a pity, unless the author decides to write some short freebies, as where we leave them, I think they're well-entrenched in their HEA.

Thomas and Cooper of the Thomas Elkin series. They are so perfect for each other
ReplyDeleteI have so many books on my TBR list. The Thomas Elkin series were among them. And oh boy, why did I wait so long reading them. They were wonderful.
ReplyDeletethere isnt enough time in the day to read all the books on my tbr..lol
ReplyDeleteI often get books and that stay on my TBR pile for ages sometimes it's because I'm too busy or I'm not in the mood to read them. The books that I left for ages were Sci Fi book series "Hellgate" by Mel Keegan oh my goodness they were fantastic and I forever dipping into them.
ReplyDeleteYes. I have read several books thst languished on my e-reader and then wondered why I had waited.
ReplyDeleteFor the May/December question: Can't really pick a fav, but a recent one I read and loved was Too Close by R. Phoenix
ReplyDeleteFor the TBR list question: Definitely! A recent one is the Dangerous Ground series by Josh Lanyon.
Yes. That's happened before. I worry a lot that I might not like a certain story and then put off reading it for a while before I get the urge to give it another try.
ReplyDeleteMay/December stories aren't really my thing but I did enjoy After Ben by Con Riley, Not a Game by Cardeno C. and Wood, Screws, & Nails by Piper Vaughn & Kade Boehme.
My favorite May/December romance book is I Spy series by Josh Lanyon. Besides rereading, there's line/scene in the books I check out repeatedly. Just because the FEELS!! ;-)
