Title: High Balls

Author: Tara Lain
Release Date: October 4, 2017

Pages: 163

Though only twenty-six, single father Theodore Walters lives with his head in the clouds and his feet firmly planted in reality. At the center of his life is Andy, his seven-year-old son, with whom he shares no DNA, though nobody—including his religious-fanatic in-laws—knows that, and Theodore will do anything to keep them from finding out. Theodore works hard to get his PhD and the tenure and salary that might follow to make a better life for Andy—but the head of his department thinks his dissertation on Jane Austen and romance novels is frivolous.
Theodore’s carefully planned life goes off the rails when he walks into a popular Laguna Beach bar and meets the bartender, “Snake” Erasmo, a pierced and tattooed biker who sends Theodore’s imagination—and libido—soaring. Snake has even more secrets than Theodore and couldn’t be a less “appropriate” match, but he might be the only guy with the skills to show Theodore that happily ever after is for real.

4.5 Stars!

This is probably my favorite Tara Lain book in a long time. I absolutely loved Snake and Theodore and little Andy.

Widower Theodore Walters is preparing to defend his dissertation. With high hopes of getting his Phd and hopefully a great position and tenure, he'll finally be able to give his son Andy the type of life he deserves. The last thing he needs right now is the epitome of Alpha Bad Boy Snake. Snakes works at a bar, drives a motorcycle and is covered in ink. This isn't the kind of man his conservative colleagues approve of. Too bad Theodore can't stay away from Snake.

I have to admit it was pretty obvious Snake had a pretty big secret. It took me a little bit to figure it out completely which was a plus. I hate when things are way too obvious. He was super sweet and perfect, though. His outside really was just fun packaging because the man is the ultimate partner for Theodore.

I didn't quite adore Theodore as much as Snake. He annoyed me more than once but overall, I found him sweet. He was definitely a great father to Andy (who was super cute and precocious) and that was his first priority.

Together these men were hot and had great chemistry. I actually saw why they would be together, what they really saw in each other and that was not just in the bedroom but out as well. They instantly made a great little family which was good to see and made the book even more special. The writing was well done and unlike a lot of her recent books, didn't go over the top with the sweetness. I'd definitely recommend High Balls.
