Country music superstar, Trent Thorne is on the run. The secret he's kept hidden from the world is no longer a secret at all. He trusted the wrong person, a man he'd stupidly thought he was in love with, and instead of a happily ever after all he'd gotten was outted. Unwilling to sit around and watch his private life get plastered all over the news, Trent hits the road and somehow ends up in his best friend Lemon's small hometown of Fate, Texas.
He only intends to crash there for one night but in Fate, one night can change everything.
Lance Nichols knows a thing or two about hiding. He's so deep in the closet he can't even see daylight. The former womanizer finally admitted the truth to himself a few years ago but he never thought he'd be able to say the words out loud, not to his family, not to his friends, and certainly not to his secret celebrity crush when the guy stumbles awkwardly into his life.
But the words come easily with Trent. Everything comes easily with him. Talking, touching and even opening up about all the things he’s never told a soul.
Fate brought these two together, but will it also tear them apart? One newly outed man refuses to go back in the closet. The other can’t imagine coming out of his.
The real world is closing in on their little bubble but before it does, can they figure out how to coexist and be a part of each other’s lives? Can Lance stop hiding and take a chance on love? And what happens if Trent decides to stay a little longer… maybe even forever?

Two men, one a big country music star, Trent, who has just been outed by someone he thought was a close friend and confidant. Someone he thought he could trust. And Lance, a small-town police officer who is so far in the closet, he couldn’t find his way out with a map and a tour guide. They meet when Trent comes to the small town of Fate, Texas to hide after he is outed. When they meet the sparks fly and the attraction is instant, but can an out public figure and a closeted police officer make love work?
This book had a great premise and storyline and I loved the both Trent and Lance. They had amazing chemistry and a great connection, but I wish the time frame of the story had been longer. The entire story takes place in just three days and I found myself wishing I could have more time with Trent and Lance, getting to know them better as a couple. Sometimes instalove works and sometimes it doesn’t. Here it kind of did and kind of didn’t. It’s hard to explain why.
The author’s writing is engaging and the story is really interesting and entertaining. I loved what I was given, but I wanted things to slow down a bit and I wanted more. Still, the story was enjoyable, a sweet and sexy quick read I’d definitely recommend.

Trent Thorne, a country superstar, is outed by someone he thought he could trust and with the help of his best friend Lemon, he runs away from everything to hide in her little hometown of Fate, Texas. The last thing he expected was to find what he'd been looking for there.
Deputy Officer Lance Nichols has been hiding his sexuality all his life by sleeping with every woman that let him and cultivating a womanizer reputation, but one look at his celebrity crush has that crumbling down like a house of cards.
Trent and Lance are attracted to each other, but Trent knows how bad it is to be outed and Lance isn't ready yet to take that step, however, Trent doesn't want to go back in the closet now that he's out and anyway, he would have to go back to Nashville eventually and face the music.
I felt so bad for Trent. Placing his trust in someone he fancied himself in love with, only to have it all explode in his face. He was sweet and loyal and protective. Now, Lance, I wasn't quite sure what to make of him with his womanizing ways and then with his reasons not to come out as gay, which weren't all that valid for me, but to each their own, I guess. Trent and Lance had a lot of chemistry, but I had a bit of a problem with the instalove. The instant attraction I totally get, but by the second day, they were already bypassing condoms and in love with each other? Nope, sorry, it was too damn fast for me. The sex scenes were hot, if you don't count the going bare or the D/s lite when they barely knew each other, though, so bonus points for that. Still, I would've liked a bit more of character and couple development.
This is my first story by this author, and from what I gathered, this is her first MM book, so all things considered, I think Ms. Bryant did a great job. I was entertained by Trent and Lance's story and liked Lemon and her fiancé, who were a great support system for the guys and the writing was pretty good. So, overall, I recommend Stay A Little Longer and will surely be on the lookout for more MM books from Jess Bryant.
