Book Review ~ Loving Storm by Carian Cole

Book Review ~ Loving Storm by Carian Cole

Title: Loving Storm
Series: Ashes & Embers: A Sequel to Storm
Author: Carian Cole
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: October 13, 2017

Blurb

Evie

I met him in a snow storm...

We spent forty-eight hours trapped in the back of his pickup truck.
We fought.
We touched.
We fell.
Hard.

Storm

She literally crashed into my life...

The last thing I wanted was a relationship. Especially with a quirky chick who drove me insane. But something about her got under my skin, and into my heart.
And I had to have her.
All of her.
Now.

Falling in love in the back of a truck, just the two of us, was easy.

Dealing with psycho fans, jealous exes, and demons from the past....not so easy.

3.5 Stars

I'm going to be perfectly honest here, I haven't read Storm or any of the Embers and Ashes books, however, after reading Torn and Tied, well, I'm a big Carian Cole fan.

I liked Storm and Evie, I think they had great chemistry and it's undeniable they belong together, but Loving Storm was a bit too sweet for me. I'm aware that perhaps my perception would be different if I'd read Storm first, unfortunately, while I own the book, I'm a bit pressed for time this month so I was unable to squeeze it into my schedule.

Overall, it's an entertaining story, well-written and I think fans of the series and this couple will love this novella, as it provides a lovely glimpse into their future together. Recommendable!

3 Stars!

I hate to say this but I’m quite disappointed in this story and wish I could’ve given a higher rating. I adore Carian Cole and I love her books. However, Loving Storm felt as if I was reading someone else’s writing, it just wasn’t up to par, IMHO to the work generally produced by Ms. Cole. Maybe I am still clinging to Tied, which by far is my favorite of her books, but I’m just not feeling this story.

I found it a bit over the top and much too sweet. Where I think it was supposed to be humorous I found it cheesy. As for sexiness, well, that was okay but I wasn’t loving it either. I actually think had another author written this, it would have been a DNF for me.

While this is probably considered a negative review, I want to make it clear that I definitely recommend Carian Cole to readers. The Ashes and Embers series is a very enjoyable series and I love the characters. Torn and Tied, particularly Tied, are excellent and I cannot possibly recommend them enough. This book may appeal to other readers (I'm known to be quite picky) some will probably even love it. Either way please keep writing, Carian, I am a fan.

Author Bio

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.

Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
