Blurb

Two lovers from rival packs. Have they come together only to be forced apart?

Alec Knight, a beta in the Regent’s Park pack, guards his heart carefully. Ghosts from his past keep him alone and angry, any hope of a relationship impossible while guilt from the pack wars still haunts him. With the anniversary drawing near, Alec needs a distraction.

As a lowly member of the Primrose Hill pack, Mark Appleton isn’t used to having his alpha’s attention. Lately he’s had more than his fair share, and not for the right reasons. Despite growing suspicions that all is not well, Mark tries hard to do better, but constant criticism leaves him desperate for a stress outlet.

Sex is a good way for shifters to let off steam, and while their packs attack each other with accusations and lies, Alec and Mark work out their frustrations in bed. Pillow talk and shared secrets lead to a closeness neither was expecting, but when pack relations reach an all-time low, any future for them seems out of the question.

If they want to be together, they’ll have to go against their alphas’ wishes—except Alec won’t and Mark can’t.

4 Stars!

Bitten by Desire is book 3 in the Regent's Park Pack series and while it features a different couple than the first two books, it absolutely CAN'T be read as a standalone, as there's an ongoing storyline that started in book 1.

I absolutely loved Alec! He was a bit gruff and grumpy at the start of the book but turned out to be a dreamy, steadfast, loyal shifter. Truly, even if things with Mark didn't start as more than sex (passionate, intense, very yummy sex at that), he really proved himself there at the end. Now Mark, well, I liked him a lot, loved him even, but there were instances in which I just wanted to slap some sense into him. I understood his reasons, but really, he needed a good shake sometimes. Together, Mark and Alec were explosive, they had an off-the-charts' chemistry that couldn't be denied and that turned into more the longer their liaison went on. I loved them together, they just fit so well.

While there were a few things that I didn't quite like, like how the Council dealt with things or how lenient they were with Newell and Wes after everything they did, I really enjoyed the twists and turns Ms. Jacobs took us through throughout the series. I think she did a fantastic job tying most of the loose ends. Now if she just wrote us a follow-up and gave us Cam's story, I would be in heaven. *hint hint nudge nudge*

Overall, this was a great conclusion to a fabulous series. I loved Mark and Alec's story and it was awesome to catch up with Nathan, Jared, Cam and Tim again. Highly recommendable!

4 Stars!

Both Alec and Mark know that no good can come from them sleeping together and while they may try to keep things casual, it’s pretty much a done deal from the very start. Coming from rival packs means that they both may find themselves in danger, especially Mark. Alpha Newell hates Alec’s pack and he’s not exactly known for his understanding and comfort. With the Alpha Council there to investigate accusations by both packs, tensions are at an all-time high. What happens when Alec and Mark can’t seem to behave casual anymore and their packs find out how close they’ve become?

Alec is a beta in the Regent’s Park pack. He’s tough, serious and reserved. Ever since the Pack war and the casualties plaguing him with guilt, he is determined to remain alone without risk of a relationship. Mark was simply meant to be a distraction.

I really like Alec, even if he was slightly stiff and broody when we first see him. I definitely think he was a patient guy and despite his initial objections to being with Mark as more than just casual stress relief, there wasn’t an OTT amount of angst about it. While it wasn’t instalove it wasn’t a slow burn either. Alec and Mark just seamlessly sort of knit together as their feelings for one another grew.

Now I liked Mark. Mark is a pack member in Primrose Hill pack. He’s a good guy, however, I have to be honest and say he was way too naive (or stupid, not sure yet) about his Alpha and all the crap that was going on. He was much too trusting really, but obviously, he had to be since it was his Alpha and Beta.

The writing was well done and the two men had great chemistry and connection, not to mention it was nice to see a different side of Alec. I liked how it was a kind of subtle bonding process and while it was obvious what was happening it was still paced well.

My biggest complaint really was that I sometimes questioned whether Mark was just naive or stupid or if he really just didn’t care. He knew deep down something was wrong with his Alpha and the Beta Wes but he still threw his relationship with Alec in their faces. It was like he was asking to have something bad happen to him. It irritates me when a character is doing something they should know is stupid but do it anyway.

I also have to say I hated the Alpha Council. They really lacked the punch I expected from what should have been an intimidating group of people. They didn’t come off to me as all-powerful or particularly scary. It amazed me that they couldn’t just come in and get things done in a way I expected from beings in their positions. Punishments for the things they deemed wrong didn’t seem to truly fit the crimes or wrongdoings in my opinion and that really made me mad. I expected more.

Having said that I will say, I enjoyed this story and definitely recommend it. I pretty much fell for Cam and can’t wait to find out if he’ll have his own story. There’s still plenty of Shifters left and I’m sure I’ll be reading their books as soon as I can.
