Hometown hero. Hockey superstar. Perfect boyfriend?
When hockey star Caleb Carter returns to his hometown to recover from an injury, the only thing he’s interested in is a little R & R. He never expects to run into his onetime crush at a grade school fund-raiser . Seeing Aaron Price hits him hard, like being checked into the boards. The attraction is still there, even after all these years, and Caleb decides to make a play for the schoolteacher. You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take, right?
Aaron has been burned by love before and can’t imagine what a celebrity like Caleb could possibly see in a guy like him. Their differences are just too great. But as Aaron spends more time with Caleb, he begins to wonder if he might have what it takes to win the hockey player’s heart.

Caleb is a professional Hockey player who is returning to his hometown of Foster Grove in Upstate New York from NYC to heal from his injured foot. When he gets there, he reconnects with his sister’s best friend, who was also Caleb’s high school tutor, Aaron. The two have a few “friend” dates, but as much as they like each other, Aaron just can’t wrap his head around why a famous, rich, gorgeous hockey player like Caleb would want to be with him. Will Aaron ever pull his head out of his butt and accept this great guy?

Okay, so I liked some of the story, but some things just didn’t work for me. Caleb was an amazing guy. Sweet, caring, great with kids, sexy and well, he was just the total package, but Aaron, while I liked him as a person he annoyed the hell out of me. His “he’s too good for me” and “it’ll never work between us” routine got really old really quick. I kinda wanted to punch him and run off with Caleb myself.

I liked the storyline and I absolutely loved that Caleb was out and proud. As I said, I liked both Caleb and Aaron, but I was missing the chemistry between them. I just didn’t get it and I know as a reader/reviewer, you won’t connect with every character(s) you read about and this was just one of those stories for me.

I also thought the progression of their relationship was too fast. Caleb had an injury that should have taken at least 4-6 weeks to heal and I wish the author had had him come back home sooner and given them time to develop their relationship more naturally. I think the story would have been more believable.

My last complaint is, I’m a huge grand gesture kinda girl, but it has to be made by the right, or rather the person who was/is in the wrong, and in my opinion, the grand gesture failed here. The wrong person definitely made it! Sorry, it’s just a huge pet peeve of mine.

Although this story wasn’t really for me, I’m sure many will love it, so I’d still recommend it!
