When a series of bombs go off in a Therian youth center, injuring members of THIRDS Team Destructive Delta and causing a rift between agents Dexter J. Daley and Sloane Brodie, peace seems unattainable. Especially when a new and frightening group, the Order of Adrasteia, appears to always be a step ahead. With panic and intolerance spreading and streets becoming littered with the Order’s propaganda, hostility between Humans and Therians grows daily. Dex and Sloane, along with the rest of the team, are determined to take down the Order and restore peace, not to mention settle a personal score. But the deeper the team investigates the bombings, the more they believe there’s a more sinister motive than a desire to shed blood and spread chaos.

Discovering the frightful truth behind the Order’s intent forces Sloane to confront secrets from a past he thought he’d left behind for good, a past that could not only destroy him and his career, but also the reputation of the organization that made him all he is today. Now more than ever, Dex and Sloane need each other, and, along with trust, the strength of their bond will mean the difference between justice and all-out war.

4 Stars!

I was so excited to start Book 2. I needed desperately to see what the Delta team was up to and if Sloane and Dex had solidified their relationship any. Blood and Thunder had a different feel to it though than the first book. This wasn’t a bad thing, it was just different. We get to see lots of action, of course and we get plenty of sexy times, however, there were quite a few scenes that dragged a little to me. Particularly, the very beginning of the book.

I loved that we get to learn about Sloane’s past. It takes the entire book before we get the actual story but honestly, it was worth it. Sloane’s past is quite sad and it definitely gives us a good idea about why he is the way he is. It also left me hating the people who were supposed to love him unconditionally. Sloane becomes more and more human in this book and less like a Shifter in my eyes.

I also found myself falling more and more for Ash in this book. I know he’s a jerk but I can’t help but find his extremely grumpy and standoffish attitude a bit endearing. I’m growing to really want more of Ash and his back and forth with Dex.

As for Dex, well I am a huge fan. I love him and can’t get enough of him. He’s funny and absurd yet strong and fierce the next. He’s a great partner and friend, brother and son and makes a great asset to their team. He’s definitely the heart of the series.

Overall, this is a great installment of the Thirds series. It was well written and extremely entertaining. I’m anxious for the next book and to see what Charlie Cochet has in store for the team. I highly recommend it!!
