SYNOPSIS:
Miss Alexandra Farris lost her heart to her older brother’s friend, Lord Maxon Collins, long, long ago. Despite her girlhood attempts to win him, he never noticed her. Now that her first season is underway, she understands why. He prefers willowy blondes, not curvaceous maidens with darker coloring like herself. Rather than wallow in self-pity, she forgets love and focuses on something more attainable—an advantageous match.
Lord Collins is plagued by an uncomfortable feeling whenever he goes near Miss Farris. One of annoyance. And yet, he can’t seem to stop thinking of her, touching her, kissing her…He must act in her brother’s stead, which means he has to approve her suitor and ensure her safety. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to find a worthy gentleman.
Wedding her off should be a simple task, but not if he can’t let her go.
TO ENTICE AN EARL BOOK TRAILER
3.5 Stars
I really wanted to love this book, I adore historical romances, especially the ones set during the Regency period and I hadn't read one in a while, and the premise for To Entice an Earl sounded great, unfortunately, while it's well-written and it's obvious the author did her research, it didn't quite meet my expectations.
I liked Alexa at first. I thought her feisty and intelligent, however, my opinion of her changed the further we advanced into the story. I hated that even if she knew Lord Edwin wasn't right for her—and really, the man was insufferable—she would string him along just to get a rise out of Maxon. I understand that well-bred young women in that era were pushed to get married as soon as possible to the best suitor they could snare, but it was Alexa's first season and her family is accommodated, so she was hardly going to end up a spinster. Some of her actions reeked of desperation.
And then we have Maxon, Lord Collins, who was supremely dislikable at first, but who, as we got to know him better, became my favorite of the two. Frankly, I didn't quite get what he saw in Alexa most of the time. They had chemistry, but really, it's quite possible Maxon could've had that with anyone else, too.
Anyway, while there were some things that didn't quite work for me, the book was entertaining at parts, with very low angst, and I'm sure others might enjoy it more than I did and perhaps even connect better with the main characters.

ABOUT NAOMI BOOM
Naomi Boom is an author who never expected to love writing. Her inspiration struck on a search for the perfect historical romance novel to read. Nothing sounded appealing, so she decided to write her own. That one novel has morphed into a series, and hopefully many, many more.
She resides in her home state of South Dakota with her husband and toddler. Her dream is to someday find an acreage where she can raise chickens and continue her writing.
