Better Than Good
Matt Sullivan understands labels: law student, athlete, heterosexual. He has goals: graduate and begin his career in law. One fateful night, Matt tags along with his gay roommate to a dance club and everything changes. Matt finds himself attracted to the most beautiful man he's ever seen. All labels go flying out the window.
Aaron Mendez doesn't believe in labels, and he’s leery of straight curious men. He makes it clear that he’ll hide his fabulous light for no one. While Aaron can't deny the attraction between him and Matt, he is reluctant to start anything with someone who is still dealing with what this new label means—especially when that someone has a girlfriend.
5 Stars
Matt is in his last year of law school. He is tall, good looking and has a girlfriend, but when his openly gay roommate invites him out for a night of drinking, Matt comes across the most beautiful man he's ever seen. Aaron is an aspiring photographer. He and Matt dance but go their separate ways at the end of the night. But after spending the week thinking of nothing but Aaron, Matt goes after what he wants.
This was an amazing read. Matt and Aaron had an extraordinary chemistry. The slow burn romance pulls you in and holds you captive. I loved the way the author handled Matt coming to terms with his sexuality, it was done very well and this is probably one of the best GFY's I've ever read. This is a love story in the truest sense of the word. It's pretty low angst, sweet, romantic, funny and sexy. Both characters are lovable, and they just fit together so well. The book is well written and flows well.
4 Stars!!!
Matt is on his last year in Law School, interning at a good law firm and preparing for his bar exam, while he has a girlfriend, it’s not all that serious, at least not for him. Meeting Aaron—the most beautiful person he’s ever seen—at a gay club he visits with his friends, sends Matt’s life into a tailspin when he’s unable to stop thinking about the gorgeous guy. Aaron is out and proud and he’s not willing to be anyone’s dirty little secret, so he quickly shuts off to the possibility of anything with Matt.
Matt can’t forget about him, though, and after breaking things off with his girlfriend, he tries again with Aaron. However, Aaron is not the trusting kind and Matt will need to prove that he really wants to be with him or lose him forever.
I loved Matt, he was such a lovely character! Sweet and kind and obviously very interested in Aaron. It was kind of adorable how flustered he would get around him. I’m not fond of cheating, but I didn’t mind it that much in this book, perhaps because I really didn’t feel any connection between Matt and his girlfriend. I liked Aaron, although there were a couple of instances in which I wanted to slap some sense into him. The chemistry between Aaron and Matt was amazing, though, and even if they were opposites in just about everything, they fit well together.
I adored Jay and Peter and Matt’s friends, they were great!
All in all, a very great start to this series! I’m really looking forward to reading Jay and Peter’s story, which is next in my list.
Very recommendable!
