AotM: Make You Mine (The Rock Gods #3) by Ann Lister (Reviews+Giveaway)

Make You Mine

(The Rock Gods #3)

Goodreads ~ Amazon

Cooper Rand is the high-energy drummer for his band Ivory Tower. Everyone is drawn to Cooper; which makes him the go-to party guy for those lucky enough to call him friend. He loves the lifestyle that comes along with being a rock star and feels perfectly suited for the role. He is also a professional when it comes to the hook-up, unwilling to stick around long enough to allow emotions to enter into what he's doing. He's lived his entire life 'in the moment' and it isn't until he meets Jayson that he begins to question the direction of his life and if he's been missing out on something truly special all this time.

Jayson Keller has spent most of his life living on the island of Martha's Vineyard working as a builder. Living on a small island also has Jayson working overtime to keep his sexual orientation secret. He has mastered the art of hiding in the closet, but he doesn't want it to be a forever thing. Jayson always said if the right man came along he'd happily leave the safety of his closet and live openly as a gay man. The problem is, living where he does limits his partner options and finding someone worth coming out of that closet for seems an unlikely prospect.

A party at Alex Metcalf's island estate brings Cooper and Jayson face-to-face. Lightning strikes hot and fast and suddenly their lives take a whole new path. Has Jayson finally met a man worth leaving his self-imposed closet? Have a couple of hours spent alone with Jayson opened Cooper to the idea there is a deeper meaning to life beyond the stage and the value of a committed relationship? But, a bigoted family and the rock star lifestyle could ruin everything and keep both men searching for what was standing right in front of them: a soul mate.

5 Stars

At a party hosted by Alex, the lead singer of Ivory Tower, Cooper, the drummer for the same band crashes into Chase's best friend Jayson. Coop and Jay are immediately attracted to one another and they share a steamy encounter on the beach, but although over the next couple of weeks the two men cannot get the other off their minds, they have to contend with the fact that they live on opposite coasts. Can they find a way to make it work?

I'll be honest, I've read this book or at least portions of it numerous times. I absolutely love Jayson and Cooper. They are one of my favorite couples of all time. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is or why they are special, they just are. I love their story and throughout each subsequent book in the series, I look forward to the glimpses of them.

Below is my original review and as you can see, there are things I would have liked that I didn't get, but for me, it's still a 5 star read!

Holy HOTNESS Batman... This book was steaming hot. The chemistry and sexual attraction between Cooper and Jayson was electric!

So, here's what I loved.

Cooper and Jayson had awesome chemistry (I know I said this already, but it needs to be said again).

The sex was Hot, and plentiful, but not overwhelming. These guys were sweet with each other, and talked through their problems, instead of the normal misunderstanding, I'm leaving, I'm going to be pigheaded conflicts most romances have.

What I didn't like..

I thought this book was realllly loooong.. It was stuffed with a bunch of fillers, when scenes that could have been added weren't. I wanted to see how the band reacted to Cooper coming out. How Jayson's best-friend, accepted who he was dating. I also wanted to see more interaction with Jayson's brother. I wanted to know how the band's fans reacted to Jayson and Cooper being together.

4.5 Stars!

Cooper and Jason's Story

They never expected a one-off to turn into something impossible to walk away from.

What I Loved: Cooper is just an all around good guy you can't help but fall in love with. He's the band's resident drummer but as we get to know him we find out that he's got a ton of heart and understated talents. Unlike many books about Musicians we don't get a lot of Cooper on the road being the stereotypical bad boy Rocker so I couldn't help but love his more subdued nature.

Jayson is very guy next door with a bit of a confident edge to him. He knows what he wants and for the most part, once he and Cooper finally stop dancing around their exclusivity, he goes for it. I love that he feels like a normal everyday guy and it meshes so well with Cooper's sometimes bigger than life personality. The two of them together have incredible chemistry and they are down right hot together.

What I Liked: I love stories about musicians and the challenges that they must overcome to successfully reign in the industry. We didn't get a whole lot of story that really revolved around Ivory Tower and while I liked what we did get, I really wish we could have seen a little more. It would be interesting to see how the fans felt about Cooper and his sexuality. Or how the record label and management company reacted. I kind of was hoping for something a bit bigger with a song dedicated to Jayson (cheesy, I know).

I also really like that while this is a rock band and there is brief commentary on their partying, groupies, drugs and alcohol, they are all pretty down to earth. I wasn't constantly angry about how they were behaving badly when they were supposed to be in a committed and monogamous relationship.

What I Didn't Like: so I am going to sound like a hater but the truth is, I could definitely be happy never to have to read about Danni again. I am not a fan and she irritates me to High Heaven. While there weren't a huge amount of scenes with her I still felt like she was much too prevalent when it came to this story.

Overall, I loved reading about Jayson and Cooper and I highly recommend this bo
ok.
