Release Blitz ~ Hail No (Hail Raisers #1) by Lani Lynn Vale

Title: Hail No

Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release: September 27, 2017

Evander Lennox doesn’t do anything he doesn’t want to do. At least, that is, until he’s sent to prison. The four years he’s incarcerated, he’s had no choice but to do the things that he’s asked to do, when he’s asked to do them. And now, if he doesn’t, it will mean a one-way ticket straight back to hell.

Once he’s free, it takes him twenty-four hours to get his old job back, his dog at home where he belongs, and an understanding that people aren’t as forgiving as he once thought them to be. He’s just about given up hope of ever integrating back into society when a woman slams into his heart, literally and figuratively.

Kennedy Swallow just wants to belong somewhere.

When she was younger, her parents divorced, and chose to separate her from her twin. Fast forward fifteen years, and she’s finally getting to meet the family she’s always wanted to be a part of. To make that happen, she uproots her life and moves to the tiny town of Hostel, Texas—giving her almost everything she’s ever wanted.

Just when she thinks she’s making progress in winning her family over, she finds out that her twin is ill, and the only reason her family tolerates her is due to the convenience of having a free caretaker whenever they might be in need of one.

After a few eye-opening experiences, she quickly realizes that she’s being used. Vowing to herself that she’ll make the best of the situation, she begins to steel her heart. What she doesn’t prepare for is a man named Evander who sees that barrier as a challenge.

It takes Evander all of ten seconds while watching the woman on the floor, bleeding from her jaw, to realize that maybe life isn’t as bad as it could be.

This woman with her thrill for life, a crazy obsession with chickens, and a desire to be wanted, changes everything he thinks he knows.

But it doesn’t take long for him to realize that just by being around her, the people of the town have judged her guilty by association.

Her business suffers, and soon after, she realizes what it will mean to have him by her side—the loss of everything she’s worked so hard for.

Kennedy knows that Evander is worth it. Evander, however, decides that he’s not letting another person get hurt because he was stupid enough to care.

4.5 Stars!

Evander Lennox spent four years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Now that he's out he's determined to get revenge on those who wronged him, even if he knows it'll come at a price. Going home should have been happy and exciting, unfortunately, he arrives at his home to find the town has treated his yard as a junkyard. Not even his cop brother put a stop to the mess that was made on his property. Luckily, he's able to get his old job back without any issue. His beloved dog Gertie, who is the one living thing he knows he can count on, is another story. It seems the town of Hostel is living up to their name perfectly.

Kennedy has lived in Hostel for 3 years. Hoping to reconnect with the twin sister she never knew and the father she didn't have growing up she does everything in her power to be a good sister and daughter. But she will need to face reality soon, she'll never be part of their family. Her father and brother barely speak to her and her sister runs hot and cold. Her brother-in-law openly despises her and the only time she seems to be one of them is if someone needs something. She's sacrificed her life, her car and her time and all she seems to get are doors slammed in her face.

When these two meet it's as if fate has pushed them together. Both need someone at a time when they aren't sure they really deserve anyone. While they both have their demons they can't deny how they feel or the way they seem to always appear in each other's lives. But the town of Hostel doesn't seem to like either one of them and they'll have to find a way to either overcome it or let it tear them apart.

So, first let me say, when I started this story I was expecting a MC Romance. That's what I know from Lani Lynn Vale so I guess I didn't even consider anything else. However, this is not an MC Romance, Evander is not a biker and the Hail Raisers aren't an MC. In the end, though, that didn't matter because Evander is every bit as Alpha, sexy and badass as any of Lani's other characters. To top it all off, he's also sweet and chivalrous and he had my heart beating just a bit faster when I was reading it.

I obviously loved Evander and pretty much wanted him to get his HEA from page one. His character is gruff and standoffish but let's face it, I completely understand why. I loved how he was with Kennedy and those he cared about and I have no problem with being able to see more of him as the series goes on.

Kennedy is sweet and quirky and funny. However, I did get frustrated with how she let people walk all over her. The woman was so generous with the scum she called family and they treated her like dirt. I wanted her to kick them in the shins and never look back a lot sooner than she did. I also just wanted her to get her happiness and joy because she definitely deserved it.

Together these two were great. They had wicked chemistry and some hilarious banter. I loved the moments of sweet too because they had quite a few of those. Definitely a great couple to start off the series.

Overall, I enjoyed Hail No and it's just another example of the kind of great stories we get from Lani Lynn Vale. It's sexy, it's funny, it has those moments where it breaks your heart. But in the end, you get that HEA along with a peek at what you hopefully can expect to see in the series next. I highly recommend Hail No and can't wait for book 2 in the series.
