An actor in the closet, a sheriff in love, and memories that won't stay hidden.

Jordan Darby is known as the King of Christmas. The star of eight made-for-TV Christmas movies, the leading man who always gets his girl. Filming at Crooked Tree Ranch in Montana, in the ice and snow, Jordan is fighting to make a go of his new company and dealing with fears of exposure over one huge secret. After all, who the hell would buy into him being a romantic straight lead if rumors about him being gay were proven to be true.

Sheriff Ryan Carter is advising on the new movie being made at Crooked Tree. He hoped this would be one day of work and nothing more. Until, that is, he meets the hero. But while Jordan is sexy, he's also very much stuck in the closet - everything that Ryan doesn't need in his life. And then lust becomes part of the equation, and Ryan's quiet life is thrown into turmoil.

Their story unfolds against the chaos that overtakes the ranch, with Adam regaining memories that terrify him and make him look at Justin differently, and Justin leaving the ranch to make things right. Only through trusting in love and friendship can Justin and Adam learn to look to the future instead of letting the past destroy everything. But will they ever see clearly enough to do that?

4 Stars! -4.5 Stars!

I'm having so much trouble coming to a definitive decision on a rating for Snow in Montana. I really did enjoy the story and of course. as always RJ Scott is a wonderful writer, I just have one major gripe with the book.

This story has two stories intermingled into one. The first is the story of Ryan, the town Sheriff and Jordan, a B-list actor and the King of Christmas made for TV movies. The Crooked Tree Ranch has been contracted to be the location of a Christmas Television Movie. Jordan, the star and one of the producers is semi-closeted and ends up starting a relationship with Ryan, an out and proud Sheriff. As the movie is filmed the two become closer and closer and their relationship evolves from a fling to much more. They just have to figure out how to make it work without it going public.

As this story, which is sweet with a small amount of angst mixed in, is going on, we also get the continued story of Justin and Adam. Now this story is much more important to the overall series arc. They are central figures in the Crooked Tree Ranch Universe. Their story is also more serious, darker and frankly much more emotionally charged and this is where the problem, for me arises.

This could, in fact, be two separate books. Justin and Adam really needed to have their story be the sole focus of this book. There were quite a few points in which I wanted more. More details and descriptions. More answers to questions that I had. I feel like we could have had MORE if there had been more book dedicated to them.

On the flip side, I also wanted more with Jordan and Ryan. They were sweet together and I thought they had excellent chemistry. I really liked both of them and they were what set the mood for this to be a romance. I'm not sure if it was just a matter of bringing them in in order to introduce new characters to the series and so there just wasn't enough meat to carry an entire book or what. Either way, I wasn't feeling them sharing the book with Adam and Justin.

Overall, the stories are both very good. As I've said before, I'm a fan of RJ Scott. If you're a fan of the series you definitely need to read this one. We get some resolution of the Adam Justin arc that we've needed since book one. We also get to meet Ryan and his brothers a bit more.
