A reluctant angel, three not terribly wise men, two gorgeous men on a starlit chase to find a child ... It can only be Christmas.

It’s Christmas 1817 and Captain Charles Farrington has accepted that he is destined to live alone. That is, until Christmas Eve, when a startlingly handsome man crashes into his home and his life.

Harry Valentine is a man on the run. A man with secrets. He hasn’t time to fall for the angel who rescued him and, in any case, he knows that once Charlie realises the truth about him, there will be no future for them.

Harry’s warmth makes Charles face up to the demons in his past and shows him that he can have a family. All he has to do is persuade Harry to stay. But Charlie knows that, despite whatever Harry says, he’s the wrong kind of angel for happy endings.

One of my first loves back when I started reading romances was historicals, so when I manage to get my hands on an MM one, it's like Christmas for me. Thankfully, this book didn't disappoint. Ruby Moone is a new author to me but I'll keep my eye open for her books from now on.

Captain Charles Farrington is a lonely man and he's accepted that due to his, ahem, proclivities, he'll most likely remain that way until he dies. Until a fateful Christmas Eve when a handsome stranger knocks at his door, half-frozen up and calling him an angel, before kissing Charles and fainting.

Harry Valentine is on the run and even if he'd love to remain with Charles, there's no way his handsome angel will want him anywhere near him once he learns Harry's secrets, is there?

This book was instalove at its best, but somehow it worked for this story. Charlie was such a sweet man, even if depression and guilt plagued him after losing his parents and sister when he was 10 and then losing his men when he served. He was supportive, non-judgmental and protective to a fault. It was a delight to see him defending first Harry and then Harry and Julian so effectively. Harry was younger than Charlie, but sometimes, he seemed the more mature of the two, perhaps because of all he'd gone through at his age. He was adorable in his awe of Charlie and I just loved them together. They had great chemistry and fit well together, despite the difference in their backgrounds.

Overall, this was a fantastic book, Ruby Moone transported me to 1817, she did a great job with the characterization and the writing to add to the experience and she gave us two very lovable characters that I couldn't help wish would get their HEA. Very recommendable!

Author Bio

My name is Ruby Moone and I love books. All kinds of books. My particular weakness is for romance, and that can be any kind, but I am particularly fond of historical and paranormal. I decided to write m/m romance after reading some fantastic books and falling in love with the genre. The day job takes up a lot of my time, but every other spare moment finds me writing or reading. I live in the North West of England with my husband who thinks that I live in two worlds. The real world and the world in my head…he probably has a point.
