Other than the first book in the series, Road To Desire, this is the first Dogs Of Fire MC book I've read. However, I am definitely planning on changing that. I absolutely enjoyed reading Hatch and Maisie's story and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.  I'd like to note, though, that this book is what I consider "MC-lite", this isn't a story about Outlaw Bikers, there is pretty much no talk about club politics or club whores or any of the gritty stuff you generally come to expect when reading Biker books. So if that's what you're looking for this might not be for you.

Maisie Mann lost her husband Niall 9 years ago to cancer. Now alone she's raising her daughter and successfully running the business she and Niall created when they came over to America. When she finds herself stranded on the wrong side of town she gets help from what turns out to be one of the sexiest bikers she's ever seen.

Connor ‘Hatch’ Wallace isn't like anyone she's ever met. He's a take charge Alpha male who makes her feel things long forgotten. While determined in the past to stay far away from women like Maisie, Hatch can't help but feel the attraction to her every time he sees or hears about her.  Unfortunately after what he thought was the start of something, Maisie blows him off. Taking the hint Hatch decides to forget about her.

All it takes is one scared and desperate phone call from Maisie's daughter begging for Hatch's help, to find him thrust back in Maisie's life.  Someone is trying to hurt her and her daughter and there is no way Hatch is going to let that happen. He'll have to convince Maisie that he'll be there for her and her daughter no matter what.

I really loved Hatch. He was fierce, smart, loyal and while he definitely had that gruff persona, he was also sweet and caring. Hatch develops a bond with Maisie's daughter from the start and you can tell he'd be a great dad.  I also liked that he respected Maisie, that's sometimes hard to find in MC books but in Road to Peace it was obvious that Maisie could be her own person.

Maisie was a good, strong character as well, although she was a little too nice and forgiving. Personally, I don't think I could have stayed as sweet and calm to someone who almost killed me and my daughter.  She goes well with Hatch though and I liked that she just jumped into the fold with the other wives and didn't have any problems with Hatch's lifestyle.

The story was good, it was a little obvious but it didn't take away from enjoying it. I was a little saddened and disappointed by who the attempted killer was but overall I very much enjoyed it.

4.5 Stars!
