So this is my first book in this series and I'm not sure that it won't be my last. I'm pretty particular about my MC Romance books and I find it hard to truly connect with a book when I can't stand the characters. In the case of Gunner, I grew annoyed of him from the beginning of the story and by the end, I didn't care for him at all.

Gunner was a annoying, immature, overly cocky, impulsive and not too bright most of the time. I'm not sure if his character was portrayed like that on purpose or if it was just my interpretation/opinion of how the author wrote the character. I could sit here and list 50 things I hated about him but I'll just state the things that bothered me the most.

*He wears a Cut/Kutte/Vest of a MC he has no affiliation with, knows nothing about and isn't his. I don't care who you are, if you have even a smidgen of common sense you know this is a no-no! You never put on someone's colors, that's a great way to, at the very least, get the crap beat out of you. He's lucky he didn't end up at the wrong side of someone's weapon.

*When you are in an MC or anywhere for that matter, do not, I repeat DO NOT have sex with someone without protection just because they say they're clean. First of all, that needs to be proven. Secondly, come on, are you insane? Do you want to knock up a woman you don't even know? Third, GROSS!!

*Do Not Pick Fights With Bikers! I don't care who you are or who you're related to. It's not a game, Gunner. Check your cocky wannabe badass attitude at the door. You are a nobody to these men.

Okay, so I'm pretty sure I've made it obvious that I didn't like Gunner. I think he had a lot of growing up to do and really needed to learn more about the lifestyle and his place in the world of bikers. I really hope that as the series progresses he changes his attitude and becomes more of a true team player. It would be nice to see him actually meet people who don't hate him from the get go.

Tammy was okay, I liked her much more than I liked Gunner. I found her to be a strong character and quite smart most of the time. I think she is a good balance for Gunner even if I think she can do better than him. Unfortunately, I can't say I loved the chemistry she had with Gunner because I hated him, but it was apparent she clicked with him at the very start.

There is definitely a lot of sex so if you're looking for the steam and sexiness, you'll for sure find it here. It was just this side of too much for me but that's because I like my books to have a bit more intensity, action and conflict. Of course, the story was full of that as well. There's a lot going on here and it seems like if anything can go wrong it does for Gunner.

Luckily, however, we get a happy ending. A bit of a HFN feel as opposed to a HEA but Gunner gets the things he's been wanting. There is also a lot of room for his character to grow and for us to see in future books.

Do I recommend Gunner? I'm torn. I didn't enjoy it but that's not to say others won't. If you're familiar with Jessie Cooke you may love him and the story. Will I read another book in the series? Maybe. I wouldn't mind seeing Zack and his story.
