Title: ShiftingGears
Series: Crossroads
Author: Riley Hart
Pages: 322

Rod Nelson is used to being someone’s good time, and that’s fine with him. Spending his days at his adult toy store, Rods-N-Ends, he never knows who he’ll meet. The second Landon Harrison walks in, he has Rod’s full attention. It seems as if Landon wants him too, so why won't the man jump in the sack with him already?

Landon never thought he’d return home to the town where memories lurk around every corner. He has to admit, Rod makes the adjustment a lot easier. He keeps Landon laughing. Despite the fierce attraction between them, he’s not willing to risk his newfound friendship to get laid.

Neither man wants something serious, but the more they're together, the harder it is to keep their hands to themselves, until eventually they stop trying.

But flings between friends are never simple, and as they attempt to shift gears, diving into their first relationship, they’re slammed with setbacks. If they want to truly move forward, before they hit the open road together, they’re going to have to let go of a past that could make them crash and burn.

5 Stars

Rod Nelson has had his eye on the sexy guy that keeps coming into the Adult Store Rod owns, Rods-N-Ends, to purchase lube. He's been in 3 times in the past couple of weeks when Rod finally gets up the courage to talk to him.

Landon Harrison just moved back to Virginia, from Florida. He moved away when he was 18 and never looked back. Now living back with his mother again, and being without a job has got him going a bit stir crazy.

I did this all backwards, after reading book three in the series, Test Drive, I knew I had to read Nick and Bryce's and Landon and Rod's stories. After I finished Test Drive I went straight to Amazon and one-clicked the first two books in the series. I meant to start with book one, but I opened book two accidentally, and well, it starts out in an adult toy store, so score!!

This was an awesome book!! I loved both Rod and Landon. I wanted to knock their heads together at times, but I still adored them. These are two men with major daddy issues. Rod's dad was a homophobic twat, while Landon's dad took off when he was just 12 years old. Both men are convinced for different reasons that relationships and love won't work for them. While I loved Landon's backstory, Rod's backstory was just heartbreaking.

I loved watching Landon and Rod fall in love. It was a beautiful sight to witness. The chemistry between them is electrical, and the sex was passionate and smoking hot. This book was a little of an emotional rollercoaster. It was sweet, romantic, angsty, humorous, and heartbreaking. I loved the characters, and I adored the secondary characters. The book is well written, it flows well and I couldn't put it down.

Very enjoyable and highly recommended!!

Let the gushing begin...

Loved, loved, loved this book! I'm a huge fan of Crossroads, I've read it multiple times and it's the only audible book I have and I listen to it monthly. When I heard Crossroads was going to be a series I was so excited. Getting little glimpses of Nick and Bryce? Hello, what's not to love! Even though this is Book 2, it can be read as a standalone. I mean, why would you but you could if you were crazy and wanted to :)

As excited as I was about the new book, I really thought it'd be difficult to make it be on the level of Crossroads and of course Riley did! Rod's character was so funny and loveable. I actually laughed out loud in several places at Rod. There's nothing sexier than a sense of humor. Ok, that's probably not completely accurate but it's definitely top 5! The chemistry between Rod and Landon was hot! I even teared up a little towards the end. This book had my emotions all in!

Job well done Riley! Thank you for continuing this journey. I can't wait to see what the next stop is!
