Blurb:

What a difference a year makes. Twelve months ago, Victor Kalinski was one of the best and most controversial ice hockey players in the pros. This year he’s playing in the minors, has a paternity case pending, and has just been vindictively outed to the world by one of his own teammates.
But he seems to find life in the tiny town of Cayuga to his liking. A large part of that is Dan Arou, the Cougars’ alternate captain and the man who now holds Victor’s heart. Surely venomous, viper-tongued Victor hasn’t been mellowed by love!
Well, perhaps a little. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t intend to get sweet revenge on those who’ve hurt the man he loves and the friends he’s somehow made along the way.
An adult gay romance from Ellora’s Cave

Prettyboy McAsshat took umbrage at my disparaging remark about his mother and threw a punch. I ducked and raised my stick, purely in a defensive manner. Pity his face had been in the direct vicinity of my new Bauer composite. There was a pile-up, some blood, a couple of teeth on the ice and a few penalties. As I sat in the box next to McGarrity, who had accidently speared a winger in the groin during the scrum, I glanced at the box next to us and blew kisses to the Sharks’ center.

“You sure know how to start a new season off right,” Mario chuckled, then rinsed the blood out of his mouth with some cold water.

“You need to learn how to duck. It’s embarrassing to get clocked by the fucking goalie,” I told the big man with the split lip.

McGarrity spat on the floor between his skates. “It’s all good,” he grinned, his teeth slick with his blood. “I got his number.”

Looked like we’d be crashing the crease as often as possible. Good times, good times. After our five-minute major for fighting was served, I hit the ice, stole the puck and shuttled it to Arou. Then Lambert called me off the ice. As soon as I threw one leg over the boards, our head coach came unglued.

“This is how you start things off?” Lambert screamed at the back of my head. I tugged off my helmet, caught the towel thrown to me by the trainer, then scrubbed at my hair.
“He started it.”

“And I’m going to finish it. You’re benched for the next game.”
That got my attention. I spun around on the bench, ready to retaliate verbally, but the deadly serious look Lambert was wearing stalled me. He was right, the fucker. I needed to cop a new attitude or I’d be selling foam fingers at the Cougar games next fall.

“Okay, Coach. Sorry for letting that fucker get to me.”

“Talk is fucking cheap, Kalinski. You got seventy-five more games to give us one sound reason to keep you around.” With that, he stalked down to the other end of the bench, his mouth going steadily.
Dan arrived then, his face tight with worry. I slid down, as did the others on my line. Dan leaned forward to look around Buttonwood. Prescott was on the ice with the fourth line.

“You okay?” Dan asked after he spat his mouth guard into his right glove.

“It’s all good.” I gave Dan a wink. He assessed me for a moment then reached for his water bottle.
Mario nudged me softly in the side. “The little woman is worried,” the lumbering Italian–Scot said.
“And you, sir, can also suck my dick,” I replied.
McGarrity chuckled, then slapped my back.

5 Stars *copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review* In this final installment we watch Dan and Vic deal with life after Dan is outed. We also finally get to see Vic deal with his anger issues. This part of their journey uncovers some heartbreaking things surrounding Vic's childhood. My heart broke for him, but I was so happy to see Dan continue to be there to support him every step of the way. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say, this story was angsty, sweet, loving, heartbreaking, hot as hell and LOL funny. Ms. Locey managed to recapture the chemistry and love that Dan and Vic share, as she has throughout the first two books. This part of the journey, like the rest isn't easy, but it's so worth it!! This was a quick and easy read that I couldn't put down. I love V.L.'s writing. Hockey is a big part of who she is and it shows in her stories just how much she loves the game. I've never watched a game, but she makes me want to try it. I will miss Dan and Vic, but I'm hoping this isn't the last we have seen if them!! This was an enjoyable story I loved and highly recommend!!
