Author Name: Thianna D (Thianna Durston)
Author Bio:
Thianna loves to write strong stories with even stronger heroes. While all of her books have an erotic overtone, it is the story that is the most important to her. “The story should be able to stand on its own. The erotic elements are an add-on.”
She enjoys writing about couples with kink, paranormal couples, and straight out strangeness. But more on that later… mm.thiannad.com.

For Christian Darringer, life isn’t worth living. Just back from the Middle East; scarred and with permanent damage to one leg, he does not think anyone will want him for anything. Meeting a gorgeous man he finds himself thinking about constantly is not in his plans. Pulled toward the startling younger man with striking blue eyes, he begins to question a lot of things – especially his sexuality. Not one to hide from a challenge, he plunges ahead only to find himself more than just attracted to Logan who is full of life and joy, he finds himself head over heels in love.

Logan Mannette has almost everything he ever wanted: loving parents, happiness, friends and security. The only thing missing is finding the love of his life, a love that is just like his parents’. When he meets Christian at a party, everything changes. Instantly attracted, he does his best to help this sad man and quickly finds himself feeling more than he has ever felt before. Raised in a domestic discipline household, he holds that ideal as what he wants but his interest in spanking became a fetish and when Christian admits that he wants to be spanked, Logan believes he might have found the perfect man.

Just as everything begins for them, Christian’s past intercedes and one of his brothers makes waves about him dating a man. If it weren’t for Logan’s support, he might fold; but with the love of one amazing man, Christian finds that living his life rather than just existing is as natural as breathing.

Excerpt:
Dinner was easy, the easiest first date Christian had ever been on. Logan laughed, talked, teased, but it felt like he was with a friend rather than with a date…but then again, that was what he asked for. After two large platters of sushi disappeared between the two of them, they paid and left. “Okay, we can drive or we can walk. The theater is only ten blocks.” Then Logan’s eyes dropped to his leg. “Damn, I forgot about your leg. Maybe we should drive.”
Shaking his head, Christian placed a hand on his arm. “Naw. I walk by the river all the time. I think I’d like to walk.”
Logan watched him, as if trying to make up his mind if Christian meant it or not. When he figured he did, he beamed. “Great. There is this cool piece of art you have got to see.”

Tracy's Review:

***ARC provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review.***

4 stars

Christian arrives home from Afghanistan, broken, scarred mentally and physically, and with a permanently damaged  leg from "friendly fire". (We will get around to that later in the review)

He meets Logan and is immediately charmed by him and attracted to him. Logan makes Christian feel comfortable, happy and alive.  The feelings he has for Logan scare him though. He is in denial about being attracted to Logan. Logan is a guy. Christian is straight.

I had mixed feelings about this book, and struggled with how to rate it. Sometimes the book dragged and I just wanted it to get going. I felt too much time was spent with the secondary characters (their parents) and not enough with the MC's. Things were left opened and unanswered and I felt the author could have eliminated some of the scenes with the parents and added more scenes to answer questions that I felt should have been addressed. I do see this is book one in the series so maybe we will see more of Christian and Logan and get some answers and the loose ends tied up.

The characters had good chemistry and I felt a strong connection between them. Christian is 26 years old, but I felt his character was written as of a much younger age. His character seemed immature at times, and not how I would expect a 26-year-old to handle himself.

But this book also had moments of brilliance. The author's handling of Christian's major panic attack and the aftermath of it was brilliant and captivating. It drew me in.

I am not into spanking, so I wasn't sure when I agreed to read this what I was getting into, but this book didn't have a whole lot of it so it wasn't a big deal. It was also handled tastefully and actually kind of hot.

The reason Christian comes home permanently disfigured and disabled, well to say it shocked and horrified me is an understatement! I want to know what the hell happened to his attackers? What they did is attempted murder!!! These are the types of questions I wanted answered, but didn't get.

Interview with the Author:
Why did you choose to write M/M stories? Strangely enough, I wrote my first M/M story before I read one. I, as the author, was actually surprised who my hero #1 ended up with and yet it was perfect. Two strong men together is a beautiful sight and can be an amazing story. I have since moved to both reading and writing M/M fiction and absolutely love it.

When you start a book, do you already have the whole story in your head or is it built progressively? I never know what’s going to happen. I am a total pantser when I write so I don’t know what’s going to happen until my fingers hit the keyboard. I’m often fond of saying “my books come from the ether. I’m lucky enough to be the first one that gets to read them.”

What does the word "romantic" mean to you? Oh, that’s an interesting question. I would say it’s that inestimable something that makes me go “Ahhhh.” It isn’t an action or a scene, but the emotions that are brought out in me when I look at or read something I consider romantic.

Favorite subject in school? Why? English. Probably because I’m a reader fiend. I’ve been reading since before I started school, so any class in which we have to read books? I’m so in.

Slow and gentle or up against the wall? No contest – Against the wall, baby. Or the shower. Or the post outside. Or the car hood. Or… As long as it’s over the top passionate, and hopefully a side of kinky with a dominant male who knows what he’s doing, I’m good.
