The night Dante Sinclair lured me into his dressing room and gave me my first kiss, I was oblivious to one important fact: all rock stars are spoiled narcissists. I learned my lesson when our failed attempt at a reunion left me humiliated and heartbroken.

Now, Dante is booked into the music retreat I run. Years have passed, so I know he won’t recognise me. He’ll have no idea the man cooking his meals and washing his clothes is the same skinny boy he kissed so long ago. And when he begins to look at me like I’m his new favourite muse, my anonymity will be my only protection against the sensuality of his charms.

𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞

𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑦. It’s the name I gave to the only boy I ever kissed. He is my favourite memory. The place my mind goes when the expectations of rock stardom threaten to choke me. I barely remember what he looked like, but I’ll never forget the way he made me feel.

When I came to this retreat, my goals were simple: get out of my creative rut and write my new album. But one look into Sean’s eyes is enough to threaten the tenuous control I have over my life. He swears we’ve never met, but there’s a Grey-ness to him that inspires me, even as it makes me long to satisfy the cravings I’ve denied for so long.

He may not be my Grey—but he’s close enough.

4 Stars

Where to start, well, I guess first, I loved that the author took the book in steps instead of using those pesky flashbacks. We were given enough information from the past to let us know what had happened, but were quickly brought into the present.

Dante and Sean meet backstage at a concert where Dante is performing and they share a steamy kiss, until Dante’s father catches them and runs Sean off. A series of missed opportunities follows over the next 8 years, keeping the boys apart, until they come face to face again when Dante attends a retreat for musicians run by Sean’s father.

This was an enjoyable read. A slow-burn, it takes Dante and Sean a long time to act on their mutual attraction, but the sexual tension between them was palpable. I loved Sean, but I wasn’t so sure about Dante. He seemed a bit of a player and frankly, he was a bit of an ass at first. He rubbed me the wrong way and it took a good portion of the story for me to really warm up to him.

Together, Sean and Dante fit and once these two gave into their attraction, it was hot enough to set my iPad on fire.

The story is well-written and paced reasonably well, but I found it seemed to drag a bit in the middle. Still, this was an enjoyable, sweet and sexy story with a good bit of angst thrown in. Recommendable!

3.75 Stars

I loved the idea/blurb of this story, unfortunately, for me, the execution was a bit of a letdown. The writing was good, but I don't know, it was missing something, more passion and chemistry and less detail, maybe? Eh, who knows? *sighs*

I liked Sean, he was adorbs, but I never fully warmed up to Dante. Not only was he in the closet, but he allowed his father to rule his life and career with an iron fist. And don't get me started with his father, because I hated Roger with the fire of a thousand suns, but Dante was 25 during the present portion of the book, old enough to have cut ties with someone who pretty much abused him since he was a kid. I don't care if it was his father and he loved him, it just wasn't healthy. Then we have Sean and Dante together. I loved their chemistry during their first encounter, but it wasn't the same when they got together again. I think the author got lost giving us all kind of details and missed out on showing us why Sean and Dante belonged together. *shrugs*

Anyway, while not my favorite read, it was still good. I loved Phil, Sean's father, and the last third or so of the book made it worth the time I spent reading it. And hey, who knows, perhaps you'll like it more than I did.
