To be home for Christmas, they must bridge the distance between them.

Charlie Yates is desperate. It’s almost Christmas and his flight home from college has been delayed. For days. Charlie promised his little sister Ava he’d be home for her first holiday season since going into remission from leukemia. Now he’s stuck on the opposite coast and someone else grabbed the last rental car. Someone he hasn’t even spoken to in four years. Someone who broke his heart.

Gavin Bloomberg’s childhood friendship with Charlie ended overnight after a day of stolen kisses. With years of resentment between them, they don’t want to be in the same room together, let alone a car. But for Ava’s sake, Gavin agrees to share the rental and drive across the country together.

As they face unexpected bumps along the road, can Charlie and Gavin pave the way to a future together?

Mari's Review:

*** ARC provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review. ***

Charlie Yates has had a very hard life, and it doesn't seem as it's easing up on him anytime soon, considering his flight back home has been cancelled and someone else, his once best friend turned enemy, Gavin, has rented it. Gavin agrees to share the rental with Charlie so he can make good on his promise to his little sister who's in remission from leukemia, but that doesn't mean that the years of animosity are going to disappear into thin air or are they?

Charlie and Gavin are very lovable, and Ava and Charlie's parents were fantastic. I wanted to slap Gavin's dad a couple of times, and I absolutely adored that Gavin pulled no punches with him when it was time to put it all in the open for them. The chemistry between Charlie and Gavin was awesome, the tension between them, both from their estrangement and their attraction was palpable and it was awesome to see both sides of the story and the past interweaving with the present so we had a better understanding of what had gone wrong in the first place.

Loved this book so much! It is angsty, light-hearted, emotional and amazing all around. I'm in awe at Keira Andrews' capacity to bring to life her characters through her words and make me feel and root for them. Definitely one of my favorite reads of the year!

Rating: 5+ Stars!!!
