The fight to eradicate the Tash’Ba breeding stations continues, with spunky Commander Berit Turner and his Nadisc mate, Tom, in the thick of things. Sometimes it seems as though they’ll never locate and destroy them all. And there’s always the fear that the Tash’Ba have something else, something worse—if that’s even possible—lurking ahead.
As if things aren’t bad enough, Berit’s less than stellar past is threatening to bite him in the ass, and they’ve received alarming new information. The Tash’Ba Queen needs to use Earth as a place to hatch the egg of her successor. And if what she says is true, the new Queen will be even more voracious and cruel than her predecessor.
Berit, along with his team—Tom, Carson, Niyara, and Fleur—must do everything in their power to stop her. If they fail, Earth will be lost forever.

Excerpt:

Veering to the left, I allowed myself a quick glance over my shoulder. Not that I saw any chance of the elgoth having lost interest in me, because those fucking beasts never lost interest once they’d set their sights on prey, but sometimes a new prey might attract them more, which I’d have welcomed right then.
My lungs burned and my leg muscles smarted like hell from running like a rabbit through thick brushes and overgrown ferns. I even zigzagged around. Too bad I couldn’t find a rabbit’s hole to hide in.
I had no idea where Tom, Carson, and the rest of the team were, either.
We’d been separated before—it happened when gigantic Tash’Ba war beasts decided we looked good enough to eat—but I’ve never liked it. No, scratch that. Every time it happened, it put the fear of God in me. A gust of warm breath, mingled with some spittle, sprayed my neck. I squeaked and swerved to the right, vaulting over a stunted tree trunk. Seconds later, wood splinters sped past my head, and I lost my footing on the vibrating ground.
I sprawled facedown in the mud, panic sending bolts of confusing messages through my body. Maybe… maybe if I kept completely still, the elgoth wouldn’t touch me? The first time I’d made the acquaintance of one of these towering forty-foot-tall creatures, Tom had instructed me not to move, because they wouldn’t be able to locate us.
It had worked on Ligador and a couple of other breeding stations, but last time a team member tried this approach, the elgoth had roared and ripped him apart. All Tash’Ba war beasts seemed to be altering their tactics, making them even more unpredictable than before.
The mud around me sloshed, almost causing me to inhale some of it. I suppressed the urge to cough and kept my mouth shut as tight as I’d ever done, even though a whimper threatened to spill over my lips any second.
Another gust of foul breath struck my neck. My hair stood on end, my muscles locked in some kind of rigid stupor. That was it. I’d end my life as a morsel for an elgoth.
A blast echoed from the south, and the beast’s breath vanished from my neck. Gunfire followed the blast, and voices filtered through my terrified haze. They’d run right into the elgoth if I didn’t warn them. But… if I moved, or raised my voice, the elgoth would bite my head off. Literally.

Mari's Review:

***ARC provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review.***

I fell in love with both Berit and this 'verse Chris T. Kat created with Breeding Stations and that love grew with Battle Stations. This book is part of a series and can't be read as a standalone or out of order, but you won't regret a moment you spend reading it, I can promise you that.

Berit, Tom and the rest of his crew have been trying to eradicate the Breeding Stations they come across, but rather than being easier each time, it seems as if the Tash'Ba are creating new and different species Berit and his group don't really know how to deal with. And when they find out that the Tash'Ba queen is planning to hatch the egg with her successor on Earth, they have to run against time to stop that from happening.

Berit is such a fabulous character, sarcastic, self-deprecating, funny as all hell, and so charming you can't just not fall for him. Add to that an array of fantastic supporting characters like Tom, Berit's mate, Fleur, Carson and Niyara, fantastic chemistry between both the lead characters and the supporting crew and a solid, interesting plotline that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end and you have one hell of a read in your hands.

Definitely recommendable!!!

5 Stars!!!

Author Interview:

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Chris T. Kat author of Battle Stations (Alliances, Book 2).
Hi Chris, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

    1. Why did you choose to write M/M stories?

I’ve always had an interest in M/M stories. Even very early on, I always enjoyed those books and TV shows most when there was a great chemistry between the two male lead characters. When I stumbled into the world of Yaoi, I was very happy. From there, I found fan fiction that concentrated on romantic relationships between two men and the rest is history. I just enjoy reading and writing M/M stories the most, simple as that.

    1. What inspired you to write your first book?

I’ve been a fan fiction writer, and had only started writing original fiction for a little bit before I tried my hand at my first book, Seizing It. I wanted to give it a go and see if I’d be able to write a long novella with my own characters. Since I’ve always enjoyed reading about disabled characters and how they find love, I chose to write about Kit, who is epileptic. Kit isn’t happy about his epilepsy, even though he grew up with it, and he also shows mood swings that can be characteristic of people with epilepsy.

    1. When and why did you begin writing?

I wrote as a kid and teenager, but gave up on this hobby for a while because life got in the way. I started writing again in 2008 after I discovered the world of fan fiction. I read pretty much every story I could find in the fandoms I enjoyed, but couldn’t find certain stories I wanted to read. For example, I desperately wanted to read a story about Wilson (House fandom) shifting into a puppy. Since I couldn’t find one of those stories, I wrote it myself. The same thought applied when I wanted to find an m-preg story. That story ended at 86,000 words, and was followed up by two more long stories and lots and lots of one-shots.

    1. What are you current projects?

I’m currently working on a fantasy novel called The Prince and the Mercenary with Julie Lynn Hayes. It’s about an elf prince, an arranged marriage, a mercenary who is only half-elf, and a threat to the elven kingdom.
As a solo project, I just submitted a contemporary novella titled Stained. I’m pretty proud that I have a title for it this early in the process. Usually, I struggle with finding a title. Stained is a contemporary story about two men who need to learn to see there’s beauty in everyone.
On my blog you can also read a light BDSM story, titled At Full Speed. I update this story weekly and it’ll stay free. I’m not sure what I’m going to write next but that’ll come to me once I’ve got some free time.

    1. Off topic: What secret talents do you have?

Secret talents? Um… none? I think. I’m fairly good at cross stitching and crocheting, or anything crafty, but these are not really secret talents. Oh, and I’m a good baker too.

    2. I'm really not sure. I have some ideas but no time at all to write at the moment. I might write a few short scenes now and then and post them on my blog, though. :)
