I’m not misunderstood.

I’m not confused about my position in life.

I’m not looking for answers to explain why I am the way I am.

This is the logic others use to try to make sense of me. According to them, there has to be a reason for my apathy. There has to be some sort of explanation for the calculating way I run my Club. There has to be a root cause for my depravity.

They can’t wrap their heads around the fact that I’m evil, that I’m darkness personified. Doing so would force them to acknowledge that the Devil has left Hell and is living among them.

Most people may think I’m Satan, but I answer to Lynch, President of the Ravens Ruin MC, and the Antichrist doesn’t have sh*t on me.

Um...so I’m not quite sure what to say here. I love Marie James, her Cerberus MC series is one of my favorites. However, this book, book 1 in her new Ravens Ruin MC series, totally and completely left my head spinning and not in a good way. I didn’t expect it and I’m not exactly pleased with the “romance” aspect of the story so it, unfortunately, colored my opinion of the book altogether. I’m sorry for that and I wish I felt differently because outside of that particular element I feel as if this had the potential to be right up my alley.

I love gritty, dark and action-packed Motorcycle Club books. I am a huge sucker for the men and most of the women that we meet in these stories. I guess when it comes down to it, I have a huge soft spot for the Antihero and the underdogs. In that respect I really liked Lynch. He was a badass and didn’t take crap from anyone. He was ruthless and at the same time, you had to respect him. That was good. Candi? Yeah, truthfully, I could not stand her. From the very first moment, her character is introduced I just couldn’t get on board.

I found most of the secondary characters intriguing and wouldn’t mind learning more about them and what makes them tick. But at the same time, I’m a little afraid too. If their stories are even a tiny bit like this one I’m not sure how I’ll feel.

Overall, I enjoyed the club stuff and the action but I didn’t enjoy the romance or the sex. I’m sure many people will probably love it though. I still really love Marie James and think she’s an excellent writer so none of this is a reflection on the writing. I personally just didn’t love it.
