A year ago, Kelly Cannon couldn’t imagine he’d end up with his formerly straight best friend. It’s hard to believe he can finally kiss Blue anytime he wants… as long as they’re in private. And there’s the rub. Despite Kelly’s promise to wait until Blue is ready to come out, he’s tired of sneaking around. The cracks in their relationship are starting to show, and there might not be enough spackle in the world to fix them.
Britton “Blue” Montgomery may not be the physics brainiac his boyfriend is, but he’s not stupid. He knows Kelly isn’t completely happy, but he’s not ready to be the poster boy for bisexuals and gays in the NFL. He just wants to keep his head down, play the game he loves, and go home to the man he adores. Is that too much to ask?
With the truth slowly coming to the surface, Blue must make a choice. If it means losing Kelly, there’s no decision to make. He has to find enough courage to face the music and hope they’ll survive the fallout.
Man. Happily-ever-afters may not be just for Disney princesses, but they sure are a lot of work.

When I finished The Blueprint, the first installment of The Game Series, I was a bit disappointed, because I felt there were some loose ends left untied. So I was really excited to see that we were going to get more of Kelly and Blue’s story.

The author did a fantastic job at recapturing the chemistry between Blue and Kelly. They are fantastic together and smoking hot to boot! While I don’t particularly enjoy watching a couple I love struggle, I loved watching Kelly and Blue work through some of the growing pains that come with a relationship, especially a closeted one.

The story was well-written and entertaining. I loved not only getting to revisit Blue and Kelly, but also some of the great secondary characters we met in the previous book. Well, except for Blue’s father who I wanted to push off a cliff. In fact, that’s my only real complaint I have with the story. I don’t think Blue’s father got what was coming to him. He was a complete and utter douchebag and I wanted him to suffer. Destitute and homeless or maybe a painful flesh eating disease?

Overall this was a great continuation to Blue and Kelly’s story: Funny, sexy and sweet. I’m looking forward to much more from this author in the future! Enjoyable and definitely recommendable!

A Deeper Blue is the sequel to Blueprint. It’s important to note that I didn’t read the first book, but that did not prevent me from enjoying this one thoroughly. The author provides enough background material to “catch-up” in the beginning.

Right away, I really fell in love with Kelly. He is a character after my own heart. Highly intelligent, snarky and witty with the comebacks and fun. Then he’s so well-matched with Blue, a closeted, bi-sexual NFL star. These two have been friends since childhood and apparently, Kelly has been in love with Blue since they were teens. Blue recently realized he was in love with his best friend too and this book picks up a year into their secret relationship. It’s a jock and nerd, best friends to lovers story.

I was quickly drawn in, particularly by their banter. It was fantastic. Even though the banter was a highlight, I was surprised by the hidden romance in this story. It was quite interesting seeing how the secret caused them both the expected challenges, like no PDA and denying their feelings, but also the unexpected hurts and bruised feelings. So, not only did I laugh, at times I cried.

I will definitely go back and read the first book.
