Dead in the Pond is book 2 in the Grasmere Cottage Mystery Trilogy and it needs to be read in order, do not try to skip book 1 because you'll be thoroughly lost otherwise, plus it's a fantastic read (despite the evil cliffhanger). If you don't like cliffhangers, well, you just have one more week before the third book is released so it's not that long of a wait, anyway.
This time around we got Bishan's POV and let me tell you, Dahlia Donovan did a fantastic job with him. She was able to translate her firsthand knowledge about Autism into her writing and I simply adored the insight into what Bishan had been dealing with his whole life and ever since the murders started and his thought processes and reactions to everyday stuff happening. I also love how sweet and protective Valor is of him, and yet, how he is always so careful to give Bishan the space he needs to be himself, to be independent.
The case is well thought out and I'm intrigued over who can be behind it all. Just when I thought I had a prime suspect, Ms. Donovan threw me a curveball and I'm back to square one. LOL I guess I'll have to wait until later next week to find out when I read book 3.
All in all, this series just keeps getting better and better, despite the cliffy, which was not nice at all. I choose to trust the author, though, so I'm hoping it isn't as bad as it appears. Very recommendable!

Dead in the Pond is the second book in a trilogy by Dahlia Donovan. All three books are connected and continue the same story and mystery so I’d recommend that if you’re going to read this you read them in the appropriate order. This book and book 1 both end with a cliffhanger, so you’ve been forewarned. I am one of those people who hate cliffhangers, and this series did not make me feel any differently about them. The murder mystery spread among the three books so you won’t find out until book 3 who is responsible and the reason for that.
This series is the first I’ve read from this author and I thought the writing was really well-done. I especially love cozy mysteries and I thought this series fit well within that genre. The author has built a world full of interesting people. The first book was told from Valor’s perspective and this one is told from Bishan’s, which I loved. Bishan’s world is still chaotic and hasn’t returned to normal in this book, and that certainly does not change throughout this book. The murderer is wreaking havoc on Bishan and Valor’s life, and the police still haven’t figured out who the killer is. I grumbled about the cliffhanger ending in the first one, but THIS ENDING, absolutely worse! Honestly, it was a terrible cliffhanger, so make sure you have book 3 ready to go because you’re going to want to immediately jump to reading it. Seriously, you’ll thank me!
The mystery was written really well and you won’t figure out who the murderer is until the author wants you to. The author does such a fantastic job of writing Bishan, and his perspective was so well done! This is definitely a book I would recommend, but again, make sure you have the final book at the ready! Unless you're one of those people who have patience and can go on about your life like the cliffhanger was no big deal ;)
