Synopsis
Will a makeover bring his fantasy to life or lead him to a love he never saw coming?
As a professional x-ray tech, Ridley has come a long way from the geeky kid Jace took under his wing in high school. Not that his best friend has noticed. Tired of pining, Ridley decides to show Jace what he’s missing. And what better way than with a newer, more sophisticated look? Cole's clients at the salon where he works love him dearly. Men? Not so much. He has dated one mistake after the next, and he’s beginning to wonder if a guy exists who can handle his fabulousness. Then Ridley lands in his chair.
Cole agrees to be Ridley’s makeover guru, and they click effortlessly. But when Cole offers to help Ridley with his sexual confidence, passion flares and boundaries blur.
Ridley’s had his heart set on Jace a long time, but when he’s with Cole it feels too real to deny. Now he has a choice to make: the friend he’s always wanted or the man who’s given him a whole new lease on life.

4.5 Stars!
Operation Makeover is book 7 in the Hearts & Health series, and even if it features some of the previous stories' characters/couples, it can be read as a standalone. I do suggest reading the whole series, though, because you'll be missing out otherwise.
Ridley has been in love with his best friend Jace for the last ten years and he's finally ready to do something about it, but first, he needs a makeover to make his friend actually notice him. Cole is the hair stylist in charge of the first step of Ridley's transformation, who offers his services to help Ridley with the rest of what he needs to become Ridley 2.0. They hit it off and are attracted to each other, and soon they start a friendship with benefits even if Ridley's heart is still set on Jace, or is it?
This was such a sweet and fun, yet slightly angsty read. It was kind of heartbreaking to see Ridley being overlooked by his crush and Cole being betrayed by his latest boyfriend. They both have confidence issues, even if in different ways, which makes it easier for them to click. And really, they're just what the other needs. Cole helps Ridley see himself in another, better light and Ridley shows Cole that he's worthy of the love of a good man. Never mind that they were hot, hot, HOT together, what I loved the most about them was the connection that they forged from veritable strangers to friends to lovers in a realistic manner. Even if I could see the misunderstanding coming from miles away, I was glad Ms. Jamison didn't drag it out for too long, and that it was resolved in a very satisfying way.
I didn't particularly care for Ronnie, Ridley's twin sister, I found her too brash for my taste and some of the things she said to Cole made me want to strangle her. I definitely liked Anita, Cole's friend, a whole lot more. And Jace, well, I'm still undecided about him, but I do hope we'll get his story next.
Overall, a great addition to the series! Operation Makeover is my second favorite book and Ridley/Cole are one of my favorite couples in the series, so yeah, I can't recommend it enough.
