Release Day Review: My Kind of Man by AG Silver (pseudonym for JJ Harper)

Blurb:

Michael knows what he wants. He wants a daddy.

When yet another attempt at a relationship fails, Michael decides to find himself his daddy. The one man that will care for him, nurture him, and love him for who he is. Twenty-six-year-old and successful in his career, Michael knows he’s missing out on life. He’s a quiet, introverted man with desires that seem too far out of his reach. Until he goes to Escape one night.

Callum is tired of being lonely. He has everything to offer the right man.
When forty-year-old Callum is encouraged to visit Escape, his hopes are high, but his expectancy of finding the perfect man is low until he sees a young man nervously looking around the club. Everything about him ticks Callum’s boxes. Shorter than his six-foot frame with blond curls that cry out to be stroked, and a look of anxious longing on his face. Callum is transfixed.

With only a few words exchanged, the two men are hooked, eager to explore everything they have ever dreamed of. Is this a life they can fulfil, or will they find too many obstacles in their way?

My Kind of Man is an age-play story and contains M/M sexual content, spankings, age play, ABDL.

Excerpt:

No one else catches my eye, so I finish my drink. Another wasted evening. Maybe I’m just not what men want in a little one. Placing my glass on the bar, I swivel back to the main room, resigned to go home. There, standing only a couple of feet away, is the hot daddy. He watches me intently, his dark brown eyes roaming my body.

“I hope you’re not leaving,” he states as he gets closer.

I swallow hard and instinctively lower my eyes. “Um…yes, Sir, I was about to,” I stammer, sounding a complete dork.

“That’s a shame.” He shakes his head. “I was about to offer you a drink.”

“O…Oh, I…I guess I can stay.” I stumble over my words but manage to smile shyly.
“Excellent. Would you like to join me at my table? My companion has left and I, too, am alone.” When he holds out his hand, I let him clasp mine. Fireworks shooting up my arm make me gasp as my eyes catch his. I choke at the sensation, and my face floods with heat as I blush.

“What would you like to drink?” he asks as he contemplates my reactions to him. “Or would you rather I choose for you?” A simple question, but it seems to imply so much more.
“I’ll let you decide,” I answer quietly.

I wait as he speaks to the bartender who nods and smiles.

“Come along. He’ll have them brought over.” His hand releases mine, only to move to my back. With a soft, but firm hand, he touches the inch of bare skin between my pants and my T-shirt, setting the nerves in my body alight. Will he feel what else I’m wearing? Will he like it? Then his hand travels farther south, onto my bottom. He hesitates for a fraction of a second and then pats it gently. I know he’s happy with what he felt.

We sink down on a dark red, plush velvet seat. It’s a good job I’m small. There is no way we would’ve fit otherwise. The image of me sitting on his knee flashes in my head, and it’s so real I stifle a moan of need. Turning to face me, his eyes blazing as he acknowledges the slight sound, he takes hold of my hand again.

“My name is Callum. What’s yours?” he asks gently. I think he’s trying not to frighten me off.

“Um, Michael.” My voice is soft, breathless, as he looks me over. Flushing again, I duck my head.

“It’s lovely to meet you, Michael. I don’t think I’ve seen you here before.”

“No, this is my first time.”

4 Stars!

I will admit that I'm fairly new to the ABDL (Adult Baby/Diaper Lover) world, I've only read a two-book series before My Kind of Man, so while I knew what I was getting into, I wasn't too sure what to expect.

Michael/Mikey knows what he wants, a Daddy who would take care of him. Michael is an introvert and prefers to hide from the limelight. He's already experimented some with the aspects of ABDL that he's interested in and now he wants a forever kind of relationship. Callum is also looking to settle down, and Mikey is just the kind of man he'd love to settle down with. He's just what Callum has been looking for. While the two hit it off, there are some things that might put a stop to their blooming relationship.

Mikey was absolutely adorable, he would get so deep into character and just tug at my heartstrings. I liked Callum a lot, even if there were times in which I wondered about him. Really, Callum was the more experienced of the two of them and should've known better and anticipated some of the things that happened. Also, Callum letting their first fight go for as long as it did was very frustrating, especially since it led to something that really dampened my enjoyment of this story. (How is that for vague? LOL) Anyway, even with that, I think the dynamics between Michael and Callum were amazing. I loved the tender, caring side of their relationship and how it fulfilled something that they both needed.

Overall, I found the book engaging for the most part, and I wouldn't mind reading more stories in this 'verse. *cough Nate & Jem cough* I know this kind of books aren't for everyone, but if you're curious about this particular kink, this is a very good starting point. Very recommendable!

4.5 Stars

This book was really sweet and wonderful. It focuses on the two main characters and their ABDL lifestyle. Which might not be for everyone so be prepared when you go into this one, you will be reading a book about a “Daddy and his Little”.

I really liked that Michael “Mikey” really knows what he wants and is looking for in a relationship and won’t settle for anything less than that. He is the cutest, sweetest character and you can see that being little is a strong part of his personality he can’t give up or change. He needs someone who understands that part of him and accepts him completely for who he is. Callum is the perfect Daddy for Mikey, he’s caring and nurturing and Callum’s wants and needs fit Mikey’s to a T.

There were a few parts of the story that had me shaking my head though and making me want to smack Callum to help him gain some common sense. While I understood why Mikey ran and did what he did. I don’t understand why Callum let it go on for so dang long. He should have known from Mikey’s personality traits that he was pushing him away and wouldn’t come back easily. Callum as his “daddy” should have made him stop and think and talk it all out. The conflict between them just went on too unnecessarily long and I think it ended up causing more issues between them that could have totally been avoided. But, hindsight I guess.

Callum’s brother and his wife are horrible, despicable people, and I was glad they were not given any leeway with the appalling stunt they tried to pull.

But really, bottom line, this book is super sweet filled with such a great story between two men who are totally perfect for each other. Their chemistry and heat for each other can’t be denied. I really think that the switch they made between the times when Mikey went from being “little” back to being “adult” were seamless and felt completely right for them in this book. I was really impressed by this entire book and I think that the lifestyle part was written really well and gave great insight into how a relationship based on full-time ABDL should really be. I appreciate all the friends both men had and that every single one of them understood their dynamic and just let them be themselves. Which makes me really look forward to seeing some of the other characters we met in this book having their own stories play out as well, I just want them all to get their HEA’s too.

About The Author:
AG writes the kinkier side of M/M novels. She’s never happier than when she’s lost with the men in her head as they chatter away telling her what she should be writing. Her stories may have you cursing and crying as she makes her characters work hard for their happy ever after, but they will always get there in the end.

Most of the time AG is hanging out with JJ Harper, sharing a bottle of wine, as they work out who is going to write the next story.
