This was a well-written and just solid book all around. I liked meeting Stephen in book one and enjoyed his dry sense of humor with a hint of sass. Once he meets Max and starts to care about him, I just loved Stephen even more! Max is a very refreshing character. He is kind, honest and endearing with his constant blushing. He is young, driven and proves to be pretty resilient as we get to know him throughout the book. He was PERFECT for Stephen and I loved how vulnerable he made Stephen. Their dynamic was HOT. I am all about a workplace romance and this one started off on fire.
The author did a great job of giving us the perfect amount of details concerning both characters personal and professional lives. Max's sassy grandma was awesome and it was nice to see Stephen relax a little with a few of his closer colleagues at work. I felt like we got the perfect amount of background information about both characters and the perfect amount of outside influence on the story. I love when a story shines on the MCs, but it is important to have that authentic flow of their lives outside of the budding relationship. This book conquered that easily.
I liked the storyline of the book and the direction the story went throughout the book. There were a few funny spots and a few emotional spots, but overall, it was really about getting to know Stephen and Max. It was about them finding their groove while realizing how comfortable they were around one another and how much they were beginning to care about one another. Now I just really want the next book from this author!
