Mari & Jaymie's Review
3.5 Stars
Mari: Chasing the Sunrise is book 2 in the Young Hearts Duet and while I suspect it would be best if you read book 1, The Pebbled Jar first, it's MF so I didn't read it.
I really liked Tom, he was a great character, sweet and determined, even when life kept throwing him curveballs. I enjoyed seeing him find his own path in life and accept himself. It's a story of friendship and growing up, and even love, even if it might not be what you expect from the blurb. I know I was kind of blindsided by it and it dampened my enjoyment of the book, because I was expecting something different than what I got.
Jaymie: Yes, with expectations of where I thought the story would lead, I found myself let down just a bit when I discovered I was wrong, too.
Mari: The book is well-written and entertaining, with likable main and secondary characters that were fairly easy to care about and a sweet ending.
Jaymie: While the writing was technically good, I didn’t feel as if it really had the YA feel throughout the entire story. While Ms. Robinson painted a vivid picture with her words, something was missing that should’ve had me feeling invested in Tom’s character more.
Mari & Jaymie: While this book wasn't exactly what we thought it would be, We think fans of Ms. Robinson and of MM YA stories will like it.

H. A. Robinson is a jet-setting billionaire with a home on each continent, who spends her free time saving kittens from trees and babies from burning buildings. A graduate of Hogwarts and a frequent visitor to Narnia, she drinks coffee in Central Perk and tames dragons on Westeros.
In her dreams…
In reality, she’s a support worker living in a small town in Cheshire, who would almost always choose fantasy over reality. She’s been an obsessive reader from the moment she picked up her first Enid Blyton book, more years ago than she cares to admit, and enjoys nothing more than getting lost in new worlds and adventures from the minds of all the amazing authors out there.
She’s had the voices of characters in her head for as long as she can remember, and puts them down on paper in order to convince herself and the men in white coats that she isn’t crazy.
