Secrets in Oak Creek is the first book I’ve read by this author. This book has a little mystery and a little romance. Though the subject matter could be graphic and heartbreaking, it was more surface and less in depth. The romance and mystery felt the same.
I struggled with the writing style of this story. It kept me from being pulled into the story and from engaging with the characters. There were many things in the story that should have pulled at my heartstrings but didn’t because I wasn’t invested with the characters. And I did like the characters, I just wish there was more development of them.
Overall this was a quick read, with a mystery that is solved in the end and a romance that has a HEA ending. I think if you don’t mind the writing style, this could be an enjoyable story to you.
