Heat can be sold but love is earned.

In a world where omegas sell their heats for profit, Adrien is a university student in need of funding. With no family to fall back on, he reluctantly allows the university's matcher to offer his virgin heat for auction online. Anxious, but aware this is the reality of life for all omegas, Adrien hopes whoever wins his heat will be kind.

Heath—a wealthy, older alpha—is rocked by the young man's resemblance to his dead lover, Nathan. When Heath discovers Adrien is Nathan’s lost son from his first heat years before they met, he becomes obsessed with the idea of reclaiming a piece of Nathan.

Heath buys Adrien’s heat with only one motivation: to impregnate Adrien, claim the child, and move on. But their undeniable passion shocks him. Adrien doesn't know what to make of the handsome, mysterious stranger he's pledged his body to, but he’s soon swept away in the heat of the moment and surrenders to Heath entirely.

Once Adrien is pregnant, Heath secrets him away to his immense and secluded home. As the birth draws near, Heath grows to love Adrien for the man he is, not just for his connection to Nathan. Unaware of Heath's past with his omega parent and coming to depend on him heart and soul, Adrien begins to fall as well.

But as their love blossoms, Nathan's shadow looms. Can Heath keep his new love and the child they've made together once Adrien discovers his secrets?

Heat for Sale is a stand-alone m/m erotic romance by Leta Blake, writing as Blake Moreno. Infused with a du Maurier Rebecca-style secret, it features a well-realized omegaverse, an age-gap, dominance and submission, heats, knotting, and scorching hot scenes.

This book was emotionally complex for me but I could not put it down!! After reading the blurb, I was apprehensive that I would like Heath as a MC. And, with the world that this book is set in, some of his words and actions make it hard to like him completely. However, for me, I think it was important to understand the world he is apart of and how that will affect the way he sees things. There was definitely a bit of dubcon in this book. I enjoy taboo books and I think that this book could be classified as that with the evidence of dubcon. I also think that the author did this purposefully to represent this specific omegaverse world. It was clear that Heath was a flawed character that for me, I had to look at the bigger picture of the book to understand him.

I liked how sweet Adrien was and how lovely he was during his pregnancy. It was easy to like him and connect to him as a character. He was innocent and a little naive but kind. He was naturally submissive and that worked well with Heath as his partner. I love the different aspects of being an omega that were displayed. This will sound strange but I loved the way the author addressed the heat/pregnancy/slick and basically everything else that Adrien had happen to him because he was an omega. This was interesting and captivating! Definitely worth the read but stay openminded!

Leta Blake (writing as Blake Moreno) built an unexpected Omegaverse dynamic in Heat For Sale. In this book, omegas wield quite a bit of power. Typically in Omegaverse, alphas dominate, make all the decisions and omegas are subservient. In this one, omega rights are quite liberal and alphas contract with omegas to take their heats and breed children. Then omegas have the right to leave the child behind with the alpha to raise them. This was the case for the omega in this book, Adrien. His omega father left him with a deeply religious alpha to be raised. His alpha father sheltered him in his religious community, to the point where Adrien was ignorant about all things omega. And, Adrien was not intellectually curious enough to find the answers on his own when he was in college and on his own. So, when he was of age (20-ish) and his heat is sold to the highest bidder, he had absolutely no idea what to expect. I found this a bit hard to accept as a reader, but it made for some interesting scenes when Adrien had no idea about heats, sex, pregnancy and childbirth.

Then, there’s the taboo nature of this book. First, the age gap - Heath, the other main character, is a much older wealthy alpha who is the highest bidder for Adrien’s heat. Second - the auction where Heath buys Adrien’s first heat. And, finally and the most taboo aspect of this book, is that Heath decides to buy Adrien’s first heat for the simple fact that Adrien’s omega father was Heath’s dead lover, Nathan. Heath wanted to have a child with Adrien so that he could have a piece of Nathan.

From the get-go, it was easy to determine where the romantic tension would lie in this book, since Heath was not forthcoming with Adrien about his parentage and you could see these two falling in love from a mile away. Honestly, when Adrien found out about Nathan, after their child was born, I was a bit disappointed since the drama was essentially underplayed and blew over quickly after chapters and chapters of build up. There was also the build-up of the tension with Heath’s family and inheritance (his nephew was supposed to inherit until his child with Adrien was born). Again, this blew over quickly and was underplayed.

In the end, I found this an enjoyable read. Simon, Heath’s nanny/butler/friend was a great sidekick for both Heath and Adrien. And the chemistry and heat factor was off the charts hot.

This book was slightly different than the regular Omegaverse M-preg books that I’ve read before. I have never read a book with the concept of Omegas selling their heats to the highest bidder like Adrian was made to do. The thought that every single Omega “has” to sell their heats just sounds totally ridiculous, but made for a really interesting story. I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel when I first started reading this book but was super interested and sucked in at the first chapter.

Adrian was a cute character, but at the same time, his innocence and ignorance were astounding. I couldn’t believe that, as someone who knew what would eventually happen, he had zero thoughts to plan ahead and learn all he could. I think him being “bought” by Heath was the best case scenario for him.

This book was pure hot sex. Like, every chapter basically had some sort of sex scene between the two men. The main thing I wasn’t really impressed with during this book was Heath’s family members. It was just a little too vague and I felt like we didn’t really get a solid resolution where they were concerned. But other than that this book was pretty good. I enjoyed reading it and look forward to more from Blake Moreno.
