Series Tour ~ Forever Ride by Chelsea Camaron ~ (Review + Teasers)
Day Two: Forever Ride
Series: The Hellions Ride
Author: Chelsea Camaron
Genre: MC Romance
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
Events happen in life that can awaken our truest and deepest desires. They also show us our greatest fears. Sometimes we are forced to face those fears, other times we build walls that can't be broken to protect ourselves. A profound connection these two once shared. A strong friendship once formed was shattered. Fate has stepped in and shaken both their worlds. The danger, the wild, the chaos, and the lifestyle of the Hellions world has become far too much for Savannah 'Sass' Perchton. Swearing off bikers and attempting a 'normal' life, she has settled. She's committed to Nick, her country club, pretty boy. She's found a way to be content.  Things aren't always what they seem. Wrap an empty box in pretty paper and a bow, it may look amazing, but it's still a hollow shell.  He's a Hellions playboy. A different chick in his bed, off on a different ride, and always something new. He's Frank the 'Tank' Oleander, Haywood's Hellions Road Chief. Throttle down and life is good. The fast pace of the Hellions life catches up to him. At a crossroads, he's forced to face some life changing thoughts or succumb to the darkness of death. Teetering on the brink of giving in, her voice is all he's holding onto. The coma he can't pull himself out of, but her voice is the light in the darkness. He wants the girl who pulled him through when his life was literally in the balance. She's sworn off bikers. Can he pull through? Can she ever see past the lifestyle to the heart of the man behind the cut? Will they find their Forever Ride?

Forever Ride opens with Tank still in the hospital having not yet awoken from his coma. While his body has healed from being shot, his mind is still trying to recover. Sass is diligent in her daily visits to his bedside in hopes that he'll open his eyes. But it's time she focuses on herself and her relationship with Nick. She'd sworn she was cutting ties with the Hellions in an effort to live a more stable life, however, it isn't as easy to leave Tank behind especially while so much is up in the air. Tank is struggling to pull himself out of the darkness. He wants to wake up but so far all of his attempts are useless. Plagued by memories of the past and a subconscious awareness of his present he needs to fight to open his eyes. Only time is running out, Sass is quickly pulling away from him and the club and becoming someone not even she will be able to recognize. This is a bit of a different take on a common theme in MC books. The woman sleeps with a brother/member and he pushes her away essentially making her feel like a club whore. The woman, upset and hurt runs away from the club and ends up with a "civilian". Turns out the "civilian" man is wrong for her in some way or downright evil. Now she's in desperate need of help and the only people who can truly help her are the very people she ran away from. What's different however is that the Hero in this story isn't consciously sitting by allowing himself to turn a blind eye to what's happening to the heroine. Our hero Tank is in a coma and he's fighting his way back. He wants the woman, he doesn't want to continue pushing Sass away. His whole focus is on simply opening his eyes and then getting better in order to claim Sass. I liked this part of the story a lot. It was interesting to glimpse what was going on in Tank's mind as he tries to come out of his coma. Then after months of being in a hospital bed he has to go through months of rehab. It's an interesting spin on things to see the big tough biker have to actually work at getting his chance to go after the woman he wants. While I liked Sass there were definitely some moments where I just wanted to scream at her *shakes head and sighs*. Her naïve approach to her relationship with Nick was just plain sad. I know things like this happen every day in real life and maybe I'm just jaded and have watched way too much Lifetime Movie Network, but sistah please. Wake up! This man is showing all the signs, you need to get out immediately. Of course what kind of biker book would this be if the idea of the hero didn't get flipped on its axis? No more knights in shining armor riding up on their trusted white steed. No, these Alpha heroes dress in black leather and ride in on Harley's. And boy, do we swoon! I know, I know, it's so cliché to fall for the Bad Boy. But come on, it's a cliché because it happens all the time. I don't know if it's some intrinsic need we have in ourselves to help and to change a man. To be the one soul who can truly heal him. Whatever it is it makes these types of books more exciting (I say that because in truth, I loved Tank). But I will tell you right now, had this been real life and Tank treated me the way he treated Sass the morning after, I'd have had my dad and the rest of his brothers beat his gorgeous a**. Just sayin'. All in all, I really enjoyed Forever Ride, again it probably won't be my favorite in the series (after all there are so many brothers to meet and potential Ol' Ladies to learn about) but I still totally recommend you pick up this book. 4 Stars! *Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by the author/publisher for my reading pleasure in hopes of an unbiased opinion, a review was not a requirement.*
