"Sometimes it takes you losing something for you to realize how much good it actually did for you."
Matt Taylor grew up in a loving family who accepted the way he chose to live his life and whom he chose to love.
It's been an entirely different story for Nate Collins. His loving mother passed away when he was five and his father and step-mother have made his life a living hell.
They sent him to war as a punishment for his sexual curiosity and it changed his life for the worse.
What happens when those two worlds collide together?
Will Nate be able to finally live his life the way he wants to or will he crumble under the weight of his family's pressure?

Over The Top! If I had to pick a title for this review it would be Over The Top. While this story has potential and the main plot is extremely good, the many little plot devices are just too much and or unrealistic. There were quite a few moments when I feel like just rolling my eyes as I read or put my Kindle down and walk away. I understand wanting to make a story have some angst but honestly, this was not the kind of angst I personally enjoy. That is not to say others won't enjoy it.
So, basically the story is about two neighbors, Matt who's out and proud gay and Nate, the brooding tattooed ex-military guy who has a bitchy girlfriend. Neither man likes the other and seems to piss each other off constantly. When Matt decides to break up with his controlling boyfriend, he finds the man having sex with a woman on his couch. Now he can finally walk away.
Nate, however, is dating a woman he doesn't like because his family, mainly his father and evil stepmother are forcing him into it like they've done to his brother and eldest sister. Lindsey is pressuring him to get married and have children but he's against it. To his surprise, however, his father insists the two get married. And nothing will stop his plans.
From here the story continues with one drama after the other including but not limited to:
*Exes turned stalkers
*history of rape
*a plan of pregnancy to force marriage
*kidnapping
*beatings
*destination wedding
*girl fight on beach
*break up
*make-up
*evil serial rapist
*possible murder
I'm not sure if I got it all but hopefully I have. Honestly, if the author would have just stuck with the relationship of Matt and Nate and Nate coming to terms with his sexuality while his family wants nothing to do with him, this could have been a really great book. There was just too much thrown into one story and none of it completely got fleshed out.
3 Stars!

Muriel Garcia is an indie author from Belgium.
She started writing in 2005 but never published anything until 2015 when she decided to bite the bullet and just do it. She's grateful for all the amazing people she got to meet through her passion for writing.
The 'Last Hangman MC Series' is the one that made people find out about her but since then she released a contemporary series and a dark gory thriller, which people have compared to Stephen King on crack — thing she's rather proud of.
Some of her favourite things include snowy days, live music, horror movies, ghost stories, travelling and of course a cosy day spent with a good book.
