Gage is a hard-hitting investigative reporter who is opening an art gallery in Chicago. He's working on his last story, the story of a lifetime before his retirement. Trent is an electrician who has taken on the responsibility of raising his sister's two young children after both of their parents passed away unexpectedly.

They meet when Trent shows up to do the electrical work at Gage's art gallery. It's instant attraction for both men, but Trent refuses to act on the attraction. He doesn't do one night-stands, because being a good role model to Hunter and Emalynn, his nephew and niece, are much more important to him than a night of debauchery, no matter how hot the debaucher may be.

I adored Trent! I really can't say enough about how much I loved and respected Trent's character. The act of stepping up to the plate and taking on a toddler and a newborn is such an endearing and respectable trait. Gage is a different story. He was pushy, arrogant, a bit entitled and really annoying. I found him to be so over the top that it turned me off. I cringed at some of his actions and things that came out of his mouth. He was almost desperate and predatory in his pursuit of Trent. At times it's taken to a point of being somewhat disturbing and creepy.

This is one of Kindle's first releases and I've read every one of her books, including this one, although it's been almost 3 years and probably close to 600 books since I originally read it. As the deleted scenes go, I honestly can't tell you what was added, I just don't remember the original content of the book. What I can say is Kindle's writing has grown and improved exponentially over the last three years. The book is well-written, but very instalove. The relationship moves at lightning speed, but I found a chemistry between the characters that I didn't find the first time around. One thing that has never changed in any book I've read by this author is her ability to write a smoking hot and sweet sex scene and this story is packed with them. I thought my iPad was going to combust! The mystery portion of Gage's story/investigation was very interesting and entertaining. It kept me guessing and turning the pages.

All in all, this was an enjoyable read that I'd recommend!! I loved the added scenes at the end that caught us up with Trent, Gage and the family!!

4 Stars!

Highly regarded investigative photojournalist Gage Synclair is opening up a gallery in Chicago, with hopes of retiring from the extensive and dangerous travels he's done all over the world, focused on breaking the biggest stories. Before he calls it quits, however, he is determined to expose a story that has been brewing for almost a decade. This is to be the biggest and most important exposé of his career.

Electrician Trent Cooper has the opportunity to get his foot in the door with Layne Construction when he's called in on a job at a soon to be art gallery. When he realizes that the gallery belongs to famous photographer Gage Synclair, he is a bit intimidated. He's a huge fan and the fact that he finds Gage overwhelmingly attractive doesn't help.

When Trent is hit on by a very determined Gage, he has to push him away. Not only does he no longer do quick and easy hookups but he likes to keep all areas of his life separate. As a single dad to his niece and nephew, Trent wants to be a good role model for them. And in construction being gay isn't always the easiest road traveled. Gage, however, won't be deterred, he wants Trent and manages to finagle a date from the man thanks indirectly to the children.

The men fall fast and hard for each other and it seems they may be headed for forever. But as Gage gets closer and closer to blowing his story wide open, he stumbles upon something that might destroy his relationship with Trent. Everything becomes a tangled mess and Gage and Trent will have to find a way to trust one another or walk away.

I have to say, I absolutely loved Trent. From the very beginning as we get to see him comforting his children during a storm, I knew I was going to like his character. Him and the kids were by far the best part of the book and they were adorable together.

Gage was a very different story, unfortunately. I found him to be arrogant, aggressive and a bit fake. It was always like he had an agenda and honestly, that's a huge turnoff for me. There were so many moments on the beginning in which I wanted to scream at him to "back off" as he seemed to always be watching Trent or insinuating himself into interacting with him.

While I found the story Gage was working on fascinating, there were a few points in which I felt that it was a bit over the top. I liked the little twist as I didn't see it coming the first time I read the story. But Gage's reactions to info he's given angered me a lot. He was a jerk and his attitude was harsh and I couldn't get over it as easily as Trent did. I was actually thinking to myself that Trent deserved someone better. Luckily we get a HEA and all is well.

Overall, this is a good read. Not my favorite Kindle Alexander book but I still remain a big fan. Would I recommend The Current Between Us? Yes! However, be warned Gage is a little irritating but Trent and his kids are worth it.

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!
I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.
