Levi is a womanizing, bigshot MLS player, who thinks the world revolves around him. He's broken almost every bone in his body, the latest fracture putting a huge endorsement deal at risk. Determined not to have his son lose this chance, Levi's father makes a proposition to Vista, his wife's daughter, she will rehabilitate him in one month and he will help her with all she needs to start up her new business venture.
The last thing Vista wants is to spend a whole month with Levi, especially after the one night they spent together back when they were 18 and that ended in her heart being broken, but if she wants to achieve all she's been working for all these years, she will have to do this. She didn't count on the fact that living with Levi will show her a very different side to the obnoxious man than she imagined.
Okay, so I'll be brutally honest here, I asked to review this book because I loved Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward, which I loved to bits, unfortunately, S.O.B wasn't nearly as good.
Let's start with the bad, one of my pet peeves is continuity, so when in one chapter Vista says Levi fractured his femur and in the next (and the rest of the book) it turns out it's his tibia, well, that's a bit of a problem. The same with Levi's friend Vincent, who he refers to as Victor the first time. I know it's not that big of an issue, but coupled with typos and grammatical mistakes that should've been easily caught by a good editor/beta readers? Well, that's a problem for me, even if not for others.
Levi came across as a likable jerk, most of the time. He is immature, yes, and a bit irresponsible (okay, a lot, I hate when characters just don't use condoms and then they're surprised when there are consequences to their actions). However, he had layers and he showed character growth even when there were times I just wanted to slap him. I really liked how he stood up to his father, who was a creep and I hated him so much. As much as I liked Levi, I didn't like Vista and that didn't change for the duration of the book. There were so many things that I didn't like about her, like the way she didn't let Levi explain why he broke things off with her when they were younger or when she broke things off with him again later on, it's like because she was the 'good one', she could do whatever and not apologize. Nope, definitely not for me. Their chemistry was good, and the sex on the first half of the book was good, too. The push and pull with the stepsiblings angle was a bit tiring, but it worked for them. The second half was a trainwreck, though, there were too many things happening. In the end, ultimately, they managed to work out their issues and find their HEA, so that was good.
All in all, well, I can't really say I recommend this book, although I'm sure there are a lot of people that have or will love it. It just wasn't what I expected, I guess.
