Shiver me timbers! When Professor Wesley Coolidge accepts a summer job as a historical consultant to a pirate movie being filmed in North Carolina, the last person he expects to bump into is his soon-to-be-ex-husband, movie star Sander Carson. Just like the flamboyant pirate he’s playing, Sander, aka Sam Carr, is used to getting what he wants, and he makes it clear he wants Wesley back in his life.

Sam acknowledges it’s his fault they split up. He lost Wesley when he left their life in New York City behind for a career in Hollywood. But Wesley has finally managed to put the pieces of his heart back together, and he isn’t interested in Sam and Wesley: The Sequel. Sam soon realizes that convincing Wesley to give their relationship a second chance will take much more than apologies and reminders of good times past. If he wants Wesley back, Sam will have to show Wesley that they really can sail into the sunset together—a real-life happily-ever-after that won’t end once the final credits roll.

Professor Wesley Coolidge thinks he finally has it all, or nearly. He finally got a tenured position at the college where he's been teaching, he's on the short list for a research grant, he has a great boyfriend and his divorce is nearly final, so he hopes that means finally moving on with his life. His plans for the summer start to unravel when his boyfriend asks him not to go with him on his work trip, then Wesley is asked to consult on a pirate movie and surprise, surprise, as soon as he gets to the location set in North Carolina he finds his soon-to-be-ex-husband, Sam Carr, aka Sander Carson, is the lead in the movie and makes it very clear that he wants Wesley back in his life.

Sam knows he messed up, and is willing to do whatever it takes to win Wesley back, but will it be enough?

I absolutely adored Sam! He was such a fantastic character, sweet, romantic, willing to do whatever he needed to win back his husband and very persistent. And yes, he messed up, but he was willing to own up to his mistakes and make amends. I liked Wesley, there were a few parts where I wanted to slap him silly, but for the most part he was funny and a good match for Sam.

I also liked the secondary plotline with Sam's assistant and the movie's producer, it was sweet to see them falling for each other, without ever robbing protagonism to the main couple.

As a side note, I wanted to thank Shira Anthony for not only including my country, Guatemala, in her book, but using the correct 'nickname' for the city she sent Wesley's boyfriend to. It was a nice surprise for me.

The book was very well-written, fast-paced, a nice blend of romantic comedy and angst, with lovable characters and an intriguing plotline. Very recommendable!

Rating: 4.5 Stars!!!

Who knew making a pirate movie could promote romance for a cute nerdy History Professor and a big name Movie Actor? Take two is such a good read, I absolutely loved it. While I worried that it would be a bit on the fluffy side, it wasn't. There is plenty of angst and even some moments I thought I might shed a few tears. But mostly this story is full of laughs and romance. Sam was my favorite by far, I fell for him pretty much immediately. He's such a sweetheart and he loves Wesley like crazy. He may have made some major mistakes in the past but he is truly repentant and wants to fix things. He's pretty much an all around good guy. Wesley was funny most of the time but, truth be told, towards the end I was getting a bit tired of his stubbornness. I just wanted them to be together and rode off into the sunset together. Overall I loved this story, I definitely recommend it. The writing was well done, there were great characters and a unique storyline.

It's a 4.5 Star read! ***A copy of this book was provided by Dreamspinner Press in exchange for an honest and fair review***
