Mechanic Mike Davis has had a crush on the young parts' delivery driver, Blake.  Because Blake works for his best friend, Mike keeps his feelings to himself, not realizing that Blake has a crush on Mike but is too afraid to say anything.  They both finally hook-up the night before Blake is leaving and then must deal with the results.

Mike was an alcoholic that spent most of his time off work getting drunk and usually began his drinking on the job.  He kept beer in his refrigerator at the garage and moaned because he knew the owner of the garage wouldn't be happy to find out he was drinking while on the clock.  (Reviewer note: but duh?)  He had a crush on young Blake but knew his best friend would not be happy if he seduced him and she lost a driver.  Mike didn't realize that Blake was making plans for his future that did not include sticking around the town they lived in.  Blake hoped to have one night with Mike before he left, but when he finally got the courage up, things did not go as planned and Mike kicked him out of the garage.  The night before Blake leaves, he sees his opportunity when Mike wanders into a bar where Blake is playing in the band.  After going home and their night together, Blake tells Mike he's leaving for good.  Mike is pissed and spends his time drinking even more once Blake is gone.  Blake receives a letter from Mike's best friend and feels guilty for what's happening.  After another drunken night and Mike wrecking his motorcycle he is forced to sober up or lose everything.  Blake comes back and declares himself to Mike and they get their HEA.

I spent most of the book not liking Mike.  He was a drunk that thought nothing of driving under the influence and was really immature.  We did see him grow up by the end of the book and take some responsibility for himself though I found his whole need for Blake to prove himself ridiculous.  Why shouldn't Mike prove himself?  Blake was younger than Mike, but was more mature.  The ending was nice because it looked like Mike finally had it together and was doing well.
