Blurb
Tyler doesn't overthink pleasure and avoids complications. He knows it might be stupid to get involved with his closeted boss, but the temptation is too great. At first, the cold and beautiful Joel Sandstrom seems to loathe Tyler's guts.
Except one late night at the office, his reasons become clear...and his control breaks.
Every time they touch, Joel's stony face comes alive, harsh lines smooth out, and for a minute, he looks serene. Happy, even. Just sex - dirty, intense, spectacular sex.
During their covert encounters, Tyler discovers the power he has over the lonesome man, and it's a heady feeling. What if he could set Joel free and give him peace of mind? When Tyler realizes how much Joel needs him, he doesn't regret breaking his own rules.

Just a handful of pages in and I was fanning myself with how hot this book was. We get a bit of hate sex and then something completely opposite but equally appealing. This was a first-time author for me and while the pacing of the story took me a second to catch up, I really enjoyed Joel and Tyler.
There was a lot of sexual tension between these two and I wish we could have seen a little bit of a lead up to that! The story starts with a bang which I thoroughly enjoyed but I always appreciate seeing the buildup to that.
I liked that Tyler was just unapologetically himself and refused to back down to people questioning who he was or how he dressed. Seeing him pull Joel out of his shell was super sweet and it made Tyler a little bit more vulnerable than we had previously seen.

This book was so much more than I expected it to be. It was hot and sweet and maddening and so sad, all wrapped up into a beautiful bundle.
Tyler was a mixed-up mess to me. He hated one minute and the next he was on the other side of the spectrum. While I liked the story, I wasn’t crazy about Tyler at the beginning but slowly he kinda grew on me, though I didn’t fully like him until over halfway through the book
Joel was a mess of a man that I wasn’t sure about in the beginning but I grew to feel for him. Sadness and love and hurt and anger are a lot to bury inside and not let out, but that is what he did. I can understand the reason behind the way he acted as he did.
The sex in this book was oh so hot; I was definitely ready for more of that. The descriptions were so vivid that it had me sweating in my seat. This was my first Roe Horvat book and I can’t wait to read others; I have Vanilla Clouds and can’t wait to read it!
