Rowan Harbor has had a tough winter, and Devon Murphy wants nothing more than to make it better. When he proposes a solution to the town’s low morale, it creates a rift in his relationship with his boyfriend, Wade. They’ve hardly ever argued, and when things get tense, Devon has no idea how to handle it.

But an evil presence in his town targets the people Devon loves, he has to put his personal worries aside and face danger down again. Will he be able to protect his town, and if he can, will Wade be waiting for him when it’s done?

4.25 Stars!

Eagle in the Hawthorn is book 7 in the Rowan Harbor Cycle series and it can't be read on its own, but frankly, the whole series is amazing, so pick up the previous books, you won't regret it.

It was bittersweet reading this book as it's the beginning of the end. Each couple, Jesse/Sean, Fletcher/Conner, and Devon/Wade, has had to go through a lot as they navigate their relationships and fight to protect their town.

While Devon is not all that in touch with his feelings or how to express them, it was nice seeing him make an effort to realize how he'd hurt Wade and show him he was the most important person for him. They're just lovely and sweet and hot together and I absolutely adored how things played out for them.

The whole plotline with the danger the town was facing was interesting and it was resolved, at least temporarily, in a satisfying manner, so the book ended on a very high note. I'm looking forward to what else Ms. Burns has in store for us with the last two books in the series. Highly recommendable!

Sam wrote her first fantasy epic with her best friend when she was ten. Like almost any epic fiction written by a ten year old, it was awful. She likes to think she’s improved since then, if only because she has better handwriting now.

If she’s not writing, she’s almost certainly either reading or lost down a Wikipedia rabbit hole while pretending to research for a novel.
