Blurb
An actor on possession charges, hell bent on destroying his own life meets a man who quietly works to make the world a better place.
Jacob Riley is a typical Hollywood former child star with issues. He has already done prison time and at the age of twenty-six has been arrested again.
Ethan Myers is the owner and manager of Macs, an education center providing teaching and learning to local low income families. Losing his partner to cancer leaves him lost and alone and he buries himself in his work to start to mend his broken heart.
Sparks fly when Jacob has to complete his community service at Macs. Their relationship grows against a background of disenfranchised street gang members, arson, the Oscars, and despite their prejudices.
Can Jacob Riley be saved?
4 Stars!
Jacob Riley is an entitled former child star/B-list actor with a lot of issues. After being arrested for the second time, his father gets him a deal so that instead of jail time, he can do 4 months of community service at an education center.
Ethan Myers is barely managing to stay afloat with Macs, the education center he runs for low-income families, and his grief after losing his partner to cancer, the last thing he needs or wants is having to babysit a bratty actor with more good looks than sense.
Sparks fly between them, and not just the good kind, but eventually, they find common ground and their relationship changes.
I wasn't too sure about Jacob for almost the first half of the book, but I ended up loving him. He was so arrogant and sure everyone was out to get him at first that I just wanted to slap him. It was lovely seeing him grow and mature, becoming the man Ethan needed and deserved. I liked Ethan, too, and I think he was a good match for Jacob, they had great chemistry and it was nice to see them progress from enemies to friends to lovers.
Overall, it was an entertaining read, there were some parts that were a little over the top, but I couldn't put it down until I was done. Recommendable!
