5 Stars!
Other than the ending which is my nemesis, the detestable cliffhanger, this is a must-read book for fans of dark, gritty Motorcycle Club Romance.
What I Loved: I love nothing more than a woman who stands up to the man in her life and doesn't just sit around taking his BS. Tess is a strong-willed woman with a lot of secrets and a lot of heart. She's loyal and easygoing, smart and brave (although in some ways reckless). She just accepts Trigger for who he is even if it means she sees a lot more violence than she ever dreamed. She also accepts the club for what they are, a family and in return, the men accept her as well.
Trigger was quite fantastic, really. He's hard and cold yet you can tell he cares about his club and his brothers. He wants to protect Tess and get close to her but at the same time, he knows he's no good for her. He's damaged in a way that most can't imagine and he doesn't want to destroy someone who he lets get close to him. It makes him literally and figuratively untouchable. However, he's pretty much blind to how he is with Tess even as everyone else sees it.
The club brothers, I loved them all. I was suffering from preconceived notions of who I thought the men would be but I found myself loving them all. It will break my heart to find out that any of the men I liked are actually the "bad guy". I'm hoping we have lots of books ahead of us with all of their stories.
What I Liked: This wasn't a cheesy story or just about the sex. There is a lot going on here and I was sucked into their world. We have a few things we need to figure out and they are not obvious or easy to see.
What I Didn't Like: I've said it before and I'll say it again, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS! This book was too darn good to leave me hanging like it did and I'm so anxious to know what's going on that I might actually explode. That pisses me off to no end. I really wish authors wouldn't do this type of thing. If there is too much to put into one book then stop the book at a more satisfying spot. I need a sense of closure even if it's temporary and I know there is more to come.
I also have to admit that while I loved this book and the characters, this story is very violent in a way I'm not as familiar with in MC Romance. Trigger is a borderline Psychopath or Sociopath. Now I say borderline because I don't think the man is inherently evil, he's the product of a completely despicable and abhorrent monster who contributed his sperm to create him. Trigger's father is definitely a Psychopath. Having said that though, some of the violence and graphic descriptions of how Trigger felt during these violent acts really seemed too much.
Overall, I am a huge fan of this book and totally recommend it. Let me just say that you need top prepare yourselves for that cliffhanger, though.
