Jason takes his 8-year-old daughter on her dream vacation to a park in Montana. Ever since Maggie's mother died in a tragic accident when she was six months old, Jason has been devoted to being the best father he possibly could be, so he's taken a bit out of the loop when he realizes he's attracted to the handsome park ranger that takes Jason and Maggie under his wing. What happens when their dream vacation suddenly turns into a nightmare? And even if they somehow make it out of it in one piece, there's still the problem of Jason and Ben living thousands of miles apart.
I adored Maggie, she was such a precocious, sweet girl. She was a shining star in this book and totally captured my heart.
I was in knots when Harlan reappeared into the story after the prologue and I was so very happy that Keira didn't drag that part of the book for too long, although I do think she did a great job at portraying Jason's desperation and his anguish over losing his little girl to a killer and Maggie's reactions over everything happening to her.
While I wasn't too sure about Ben at first, he did seem a bit pushy and desperate to me, I warmed up to him quite fast and ended up loving him. He was amazing with Maggie and Jason.
I liked Jason, too, however, there were instances in which I felt Maggie was more mature than he was. Perhaps it was the fact that he had been completely wrapped up in raising her to the detriment of his social life, he actually put his life on hold until Ben came into the picture and he realized he was attracted to men and not just admiring their physique. As his much younger brother accused Jason of, he tended to run away from things, and I wished it'd actually been him who'd seek Ben out there near the end. I have to admit I wanted to slap some sense into him several times, especially at the scene before he returned home in which my heart broke right along with Ben's. *cuddles Ben*
Jason and Ben's chemistry felt a bit forced at first, but that changed when they were thrown into such an intense upheaval with Maggie's abduction. I liked that Jason didn't have that much trouble coming to terms with his sexuality and that their age difference didn't really have that much impact in the story.
Overall, I enjoyed Road to the Sun, it was well-written and well-paced and I couldn't put it down until I was done because I needed to know how it would all play out. It was angsty and hot and sweet and while it's not my favorite book by Keira Andrews, it's still a really great read that I thoroughly recommend!
