Adam James is so far in the closet he could find Narnia. As an attorney for the homophobic WMA Development, he can’t come out without risking the million-dollar paycheck waiting for him once they push their big land development deal through the city council—money that will finally allow Adam to live according to his own terms. Then, on an early morning scuba dive, Adam meets a tall, lean rebreather diver named Sky who makes him want to hug a tree.
Sky Sea Mickeljohn stands for the environment, world peace, and being openly gay. He won’t compromise his principles for anyone—even the damned lying developer lawyer he can’t help lusting after. True, the WMA land development deal could put thousands of people at risk, but Sky still wants to risk his heart. In the fight between freedom and integrity, is there a place for love?

4.5 Stars!
I am a huge Tara Lain fan and her Balls to the Wall Romance series has been one of my favorites for a while now. Beach Balls is Adam and Sky's story, two very different men who spend an explosive night together only to realize later they are on opposing sides of a major land development case.
What I Loved: I loved both Adam and Sky. Adam may have appeared to be reserved and focused more on money than anything else but he really wasn't. He was basically just a sad guy who was hiding who he really was after a disastrous coming out as a teen. Up until meeting Sky, he hadn't realized it was time for him to stop living in the closet and begin to be happy. With off the charts chemistry that made him reevaluate everything making the right choice became a lot easier.
What I Liked: I really liked the ending (I don't want to give spoilers). It was cute and sweet and it made the whole idea of HEA more realistic.
What I Didn't Like: unfortunately, while the sex itself was hot, the dirty talk not so much. This isn't the first time I have had a problem with the sex talk in a Tara Lain book, however, I am starting to just ignore it and skim through that part of the dialogue.
Overall, I really enjoyed Beach Balls and would definitely recommend it!

I've never gone to theme convention or vacation before, only read them in articles and stories. They sound fun, though. I'd love to go to one someday.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite trope is hurt/comfort because I like to see people who are hurting getting a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteI can't possibly pick just one favorite series. It would be like asking a parent to pick a favorite child.
